Hello,
I didnt see any threads on this yet so I wanted to make sure all the 229 owners knew about this. Sig is now making a SCT version of the 229. It seems to be just a reg 229 w/ extra capacity mags and a TFO front sight. They dont seem to offer the mags seperately yet on the website, but our friends at Top Gun Supply have them.
These are factory sig mags with an extended base plate. They are marked "made in Italy" so probably Mec Gars. I like the shape of the base, it doesnt seem too strange sticking out. Nice to have 14rnds of 40 in my 229 finally. I have put about 200rnds through one so far, no malfunctions whatsoever. it fits nice in the well just like the 12rnd. seems to have a slicker coating thats slides out nice and smooth. They also differ from my 12 rnd mag as they have the witness holes in the side instead of in the back.
Plug for Top Gun.....
Their website Topgunsupply.com is well designed, their shipping is crazy fast, they answer all your questions quickly and they were very helpful in accepting a return on another mag (different gun, different story)that didnt work out. Thanks Tom!!!
Here are some pics of the mag compared to the 12 rnd.
Im stoked!
