Crimson Trace has had a lock on laser grips for a long time - but now I see that Hogue has brought out their own line, which looks a lot like the ones from Crimson Trace with the laser alongside the right side of the frame and the activation button on the front of the grip just below the trigger guard.

So . . . unless Hogue is buying them from Crimson Trace, I'm guessing that the Crimson Trace patents finally ran out. With competition now open, maybe we'll see a price reduction and more choices in the not-too-distant future. (I really want a green lasergrip for my round butt S&W 1911Sc)

Good. I'd like them to make some for CZ pistols. I've noticed Crimson Trace has dropped the CZ line from their website.

Although, if CT dropped CZ then maybe that is telling me something. :(

In a big fan of the viridian green laser sights.

Same. My eyes are nowhere near old, just need help from glasses and I had issue seeing red lasers. In addition I have never been fond of spending $300-400 on a model specific laser when I could get something that attached to a rail instead.

If Hogue is paying CT a licensing fee to use their patents, no cT price drop will be expected. If CT is going off patent, the floodgates will be flung wide open
