New Springfield release leaked!

Amazing- Another duty-size 9mm safety-less polystriker fitted with a rail and RDS capable.

What will they think of next?

I hear you, however we are in an amazing time of lots of different gun manufacturers. I am very happy to be able to have so many choices to carry. We have never had such a great period with affordable and reliable pistols. Now if we could only get Ruger Red/Black hawks for decent prices…..

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

made in Croatia like my Hellcat, so most likely very dependable outta the box, unlike problems the SA-35 and the Prodigy did have or still might be having.

(i dumped my SA-35)

either way, i have a Sig P320 coming in soon, not interested in this one

I've got a Prodigy 5" version 2, they made some adjustments in the slide via lightning cuts.
Am sitting around 500 rds, just started having major failure to extract issues.
Got the slide apart now, looks like a new extractor is in order as the optic screws contact the extractor and bend it.

HMmmm mmm?

How much does it weigh with a loaded magazine?

Just what we want… another “crew served” handgun.

Fully loaded mag? Probably weighs less than an empty commander sized 1911 with steel frame, as long as you keep the weapon light off of it.

Or similar to a loaded Glock 17 or 19.

Looks cool enough. Springfield does make some pretty nice stuff. This one shouldn't be an exception. Does the market have room for yet another 9 mm pistol?

Yeah another Glock killer!

I can't wait not to buy one.

Another copycat.

In the grand scheme of things, I suspect this is just the newest “version” of the XD line, and a makeover that addresses a lot of things folks didn’t like about the previous models, like grip safety.

SA is just trying to tap into the market on a stronger level. I hope they succeed.

Isn’t it just a bigger version of the hellcat? Like the tacops is to the P365??

Look at the stub of the release from the other side. It clearly differs from Hellcat. Looks copied from P320 if anything.

My guess is, this gun is primarily aimed at the institutional customers in Europe. Most likely, it adds the disassembly lever linkage that allows to field-strip the gun without pulling the trigger.

I have had a SA 1911 for 30 and a Hellcat Pro for six months. Like them both. No interest in the new release as I have that base covered with Glocks.

Frame texturing looks like the Hellcat Pro.

I'm going to be looking for the fine print at Show and Tell.
I wonder if they might have gone in-house or found a different contractor than XD.

ETA: Nope, there is a Made in Croatia stamp fuzzy in the picture. I think Croatia, definitely not USA.

I wonder if magazines are compatible with XD.
There are getting to be more and more proprietary magazines out there. More to keep track of if you like Something Different, more to worry about finding. Wilson dropped the Spec Ops and KZ models and does not offer magazines for them.

Springfield, as well as Ruger, are kinda all over the map with different models. Perhaps this is the beginnings of a family of common pistols.

Still, I'm not in the market for a Springfield.
