New standard in gun dealer non-service!

I despise going into any stores. I love how now I can buy practically any goods online and have them sent to my doorstep. It seems unfair that the same can't be done with firearms... especially since I swear there is a government conspiracy to fill gun-stores with annoying, falsity spouting people that tell you the gun you like sucks and to buy xyz.

El Tejon,

I was born in the last great decade.
Then you showed up in the next one :p
Let us see if El T figures that one out. Hint: I am older

Basically folks are not being raised right and current business models are about "them" and not the customer.

Mom's Maytag washer needed servicing, it is 27 years old.
Old boy shows up, old school and he got rid of his Retail front some years ago.
Just does the servicing.

Years ago he noticed the wind of change, folks not caring about repeat customers, and service.
Circuit City was coming to town , and he already had input from Newton,Iowa [where Maytag is/was] and other Maytag dealers.

He blew out his retail store. No way he could compete with CC buying 500 units at a time, and selling less than his cost. Business model : undercut the competition, put them out of business.

CC will not give one the time of day if they spend the big dollars for a washer and dryer. They will look at you like you are an alien and state you bought these from them, and need service.

Whirlpool in Ft Smith, is closed, they were bought out. New folks that have Whirlpool, just signed the deal to buy Maytag.

Incredible the number of folks wanting to buy the used , older stuff, and have this old school service guy, take care of them.

New model is take the money, once taken, the customer is on their own,and they don't seem to care about "negative advertising" , so one can forget about "repeat customers" or "new customers from positive word of mouth".

Progress :are we progressing forward, or progressing backwards?

I never even got to buy a single gun from Samco, although I tried mightily. I ordered one and was told it take 2-3 weeks before I got it. I waited around, called them and was told that it would be 2 more weeks. I waited again, called again and got the same reply. I waited and called again, whereupon I was told that it was on backorder and it could be months. When I told them that I wanted to cancel it, I got put on hold forever. After calling again, I could never get them to say that my order had, in fact, been cancelled. So, rather than let an order sit there to maybe be filled a year from now, I cancelled my debit card and got another so they couldn't charge me somewhere in the future for something I had already bought elsewhere. They were just fine when they took my order but were royal asses when I wanted to cancel. Customer appreciation-wise, they bit it, sine qua non.
PS: They called 3-4 weeks later to tell me that my card had been declined.

I have this same problem with companies that make so much money they do not want any of mine.

I tried to re-establish a Dealer's account with Midway USA and they refused because I do not have the word "gun" in my business name (neither do they, by the way). I faxed them all of my business documents 4 separate times - they kept saying they never got them. Their customer service is horrible! - I take my business elsewhere.

Beeman Airguns has the same problem - I faxed them my business information and Dealer's application twice and then they have told me 4 times over 3 weeks "We'll call you when you're approved" - I haven't heard from them yet.

It makes you wonder if the only reason these businesses get by is with the grace of God, because they certainly don't do it based on their people skills.

Thankfully we live in a Capitalist society where we have the oppurtunity to take our money elsewhere.

Yep,
The War on Naval Lint and Bathtub Rings (or whatever it is this week) is not helping either.

Couple of gunsmiths I know, do not have the word gun in the business name either.
I do not know the companies, still for twenty years they have conducted business and "knew" each other. Best guess is, newer owners, or money backers covering their butts.

Sand Blasting media. Get this.
One place just quit handling it, along with some other products more local.
Fella is older, going to retire pretty soon, and his property is prime, and has a buyer already to pay cash.

NOT worth the hassles the Agency telling him he "has to" have this fence, this security, this, that and the other.
Agent comes back to hear decision.
"Nope, sorry man, blew that all out, sold all that stuff cheap, and getting ready to retire".

Freaked out this Agent, umm...one of the deals was having folks sign for this sand blasting media.
So he "said".

Granted gun smiths use media, but what about the folks sand blasting a swing set, or lawn furniture, or "normal" everyday uses as they have forever?

Just waved and grinned, sitting on them sacks of seed... - "The Flower".

I also had a bad experience with samco, it started out I was attempting to buy 1000 rds of ammunition. I called them and got a woman that could barely speak english. I could not make her understand what I wanted. She finally told me to email my order. Soooooo, the e mails began, I emailed the company asking what the shipping would be on my order. Recieved a timely return e mail from a gentleman telling me the total cost of my order including shipping.
Excellent ! I got a postal money order made a copy of my DL and sent it certified mail. They recieved the order 3 days later. about 3 weeks later a recieved a phone call from who I assume was the same non english speaking lady stating my order had been delayed and that it was going to be shipped the next day. I thought that was pretty good of them to let me know that.
2 weeks later, I still had not recieved my order so I called them asking if it had been further delayed. The same woman, (I think) said that they had not shipped it because they didnt have a copy of my DL. (which was stapled to my request and M.O.. I faxed another copy and phoned back to make sure they recieved it, and she stated they had and my order would be shipped the next working day. 4 weeks later I recieved a call from them stating they could not ship my order because they did not have my credit card number. I explained to this woman that I was not paying with a credit card, that I had enclosed a m.o.. She stated they had no record of it. I explained to her that it was a postal money order and that 30 days earlier I had put a trace on it and that they had cashed it on such and such date. suddenly, she found confirmation that they HAD recieved payment after all, and again told me my order would be shipped the next day. ( sound familliar?) I finally recieved my order a full THREE MONTHS after I ordered it. NEVER AGAIN !!! I think their customer service and efficiency would increase dramatically if the would hire employees that could read, write and comprehend english. This is the worst service I have ever recieved in my life, and I will never spend another dime with samco.

Only in the gun business. Only in the gun business could they treat me lower than coins that fall out of a whale's pocket. Only in the gun business could they treat someone who has been doing business with you for nearly 20 years as if I was a bum wanting a free sandwhich. Only in the gun business could they spit on me and think that it is normal.

I guess you have never delt with the phone company before!!

Especially when you are trying to pry money out of them from an overcharge!!

Bad service is epidemic in nearly all parts of the service industry, part of the problem in the gun business is the few number of distributors left in the industry, many of the smaller ones, those who knew their customers by name not just customer number, were forced out by the manufactures who wanted to consolidate their distribution system to save money, so they required a larger investment then many smaller companies could afford, plus the large amount of regulation and paper work from the states and Fed's cut into their profit margins. So we are left with a smaller number of distributors who know we have to buy from them so they forget about customer service and just look at the bottom line. Their are some like Brownell's who go out of their way to provide great customer service, I know when ever I have had a problem with them they have gone out of their way to correct the problem and their tech. support is the best.

Jeff, that's very cool. "I'd like a framing hammer and that Remington .22 on the end.":D

I called Friday. Even when I switched to Spanish, no one there knew anything and no one wanted to reorder my rifle.

I asked for a supervisor was told to leave my name and telephone number. We'll see if this gets any better. I am not placing any bets: 1. it's a misdemeanor, 2. I've been in the gun culture too long to have any faith any gun dealers.

I tried to re-establish a Dealer's account with Midway USA and they refused because I do not have the word "gun" in my business name

Funny how they manage to give C&R's the dealer discount and they 99.99% of the time will not have the word gun in the name.

I call BS our account does not say gun in it either and had no problem getting an account.

If your real give the owner a call or email He will fix the dopes in the customer service.

Don't get me started on the telephone company. A new problem started today, as I discovered the phone company has issued my number to one of their new customers. I've only had this number for a dozen or so years, but I'm not that tired of it just yet.

A few misdemeanors never hurt anybody...

The kids on my school bus sometimes call me "Mr. Meaner." :neener:
