Midway USA has goofy rule for dealer's account

Yes, Midway does sell firearms that do require an FFL, but do they sell any C&R's? If not, then they wouldn't need to verify the C&R through the EZ-check system, since no firearms would be shipped to the C&R FFL.

The faxed C&R FFL would be to just qualify for dealer pricing, something that Midway doesn't need extend tothe C&Rer, since he is obviously not in the retail firearms business.

Not for nothing but Midway is NOT the cheapest for wholesale.

For some things, they are the cheapest (or one of the cheapest). I have found them to typically have the some of the better prices for most of the things I buy.

About the only item I find that Midway carries that is difficult for me to get wholesale anywhere else are reloading dies from Redding (maybe someone can point me towards a good wholesale supplier of Redding?).

I had a customer who just had to have a set, so that is why I tried to re-establish my dealer's account with them.

Practically everything else that Midway carries I can get at true wholesale prices from other sources.

Seems to me that their dealer discount often doesn't amount to much.

This is why I hardly ever use them. They are even close enough to me that I can pick up stuff at their back door rather than shipping. I prefer Brownell's, but Midway does have a lot of oddball stuff, esp if you're big into reloading.

Funniest thing is, when I was in gunsmithing school, both Brownells and Midway opened up a dealer account for me on my word.. they didn't ask for proof, merely asked which school for their records, and poof!

Even though I have been out of school for a while now, I STILL get dealer pricing.. they even accidentally shipped me a receiver a few months back... I returned it and asked them ship to an FFL near me so I could pick it up....

Midways Goofy Dealer Program

I am a licensed gunsmith and have been doing buisnes with midway for over 20 years. Recently I have noticed in their weekly specials that the dealer price is higher than the sales price. I thought this was a mistake and I called them and they told me no it was no mistake that they have some items that they sell to folks that are not dealers that is cheaper than the dealer price. I was going to purchase a Hogue stock for a 98 mauser and noticed that it was on the weekly specials for 89.00. So I logged in and went to the weekly specials and my price was 96.00 for a dealer. If you are a dealer just log on and go to the weekly specials and you will see that folks who are not dealers can purchase these items cheaper than you can.
I really cannot understand why a business would want to sell something to someone who has done very little business to no business with them cheaper than someone who has purchased lots of stuff from them in the past.
I had noticed earlier that they were letting folks who were not dealers have the specials at the same price as the dealers, but the dealer price being higher than what the specials, and them not letting you have the special price because you are a dealer is a new one.
I frankly don't like or appreciate what midway is doing here and if there are any more dealers who read this forum and don't like it either please email or call them and let them know.

Inventory management. Sometimes you need to get rid of piles of junk in the warehouse, and you need to move it fast. Dropping the price for dealers only might not move enough volume.

A quick "special" to unload stuff is fairly common.

Changing all the dealer price databases to reflect a short term sale is too much trouble, so they just run the special til inventories get back where they want them, then it goes away.

If it makes you feel any better they would not ship me a AR lower receiver because I live in New York State apparently to close to New York City which seem to dictates the firearm laws of the entire state . . . even when they DONT.

Try Grafs. If you are willing to send them a check/MO their dealer prices generally beat Midway handsdown.

Per their rules they could not sell to Midyay (themselves),Cabellas,Gander Mountain, ect. as none of the above have gun related names.
