A S&W 952 PC was right around $1,000.00 when it was new 15 plus years ago. A friend of mine had one back in the day, and it was one of the best shooting semiautomatics I can remember shooting.

Take a look into Dan Wesson DWX

But of your choices I would go with the Walther Q5, they are very nice. I haven't shot one personally but handled one. I've always been impressed with my Walther's and a steel framed Walther with their trigger would be sublime for a range gun.

I'm very curious about your experience with the DWX.
What is it about that experience that would have you recommend it above those on the OP's list?
Thanks!

Does anybody have experience with DWX?
I have seen nothing to say they have made it into production.

Definitely not in production yet, but it looks promising

I highly recommend the Arex Rex Alpha. In my opinion, likely the best shooting sub $1000 pistol you can buy today.

If you want some of the best built today, without much regard to cost, I highly recommend a Phoenix Redback

...or Atlas Gunworks Hyperion

The Sig Sauer P210 Super Target is a great option. This one is German, but you can get the American P210A, which offers much of the performance at a fraction of the cost.

ok, so first of all I want every gun that @bc1023 has pictured in his posts.
just because...
and in particular I want that Phoenix Redback of which I have absolutely no knowledge.
just because...
(maybe it's the nice, shiny pictures?)
:)

Bac's collection is very similar to LifeSizePotato's, but not identical: no Px4, no X6, no weird French stuff, but some of them are in multiplies. I was wondering at times if Bac is LSP's father IRL.

just ordered one last week. waiting on the optic plate.. it's apparently gotta come from overseas!

Nice. Mine was before optic ready were available. Sent the firearm to primary machine for some lightening and optic machined in. Then black nitride on slide.

They did great work!

This 60 year old shot a 4-1/2" group at 50 yards today with a good set of open sights.
Kimber adjustable rear and a Dawson ramp front painted neon pink.

Don't give in to the dot!

My carry cz sp01 cajunized pro package is factory night sights. My carry springfield xds is factory front fiber optic. My wife's vp9 is factory night site.

The shadow 2, cz scorpion, and Smith Wesson 629 44mag are all red dots.

I'm only partial to shooting, the sights are all great as long as I get trigger time.

For pure paper punching fun it's hard to beat a 9mm 1911.
I can't shoot a 5" group at 50 yards with any of the poly pistols (tried for years), but I can with my Kimber Target 9.

Agree 100%. My Colt Competition 9mm is practically a one hole gun, I shoot it better than a Sig P210 I used to own believe it or not.

Yeah, thought about mortgaging the house and buying a P210, but the Kimber shoots so well, I don't think it would be an improvement.

Well, the poll is closed now, and the Sig P210 wasn't a choice, but if it's a 9mm target pistol you're looking for there is absolutely no equal at any price to the Sig P210.
Not quite sure I agree with that, but the P210 is certainly one of the most accurate anyway, especially for a military pistol.

Take out the other variables by putting them both in a ransom rest at 50 meters and you’ll see a big difference. The Swiss P210 came with a test target of 10 rounds into a 1.5” group at 50 meters.

The Colt can’t do that at half that distance.

I wouldn't bet on that.
Oh I would

Some 1911’s can come close to matching a P210’s accuracy at distance. Colt isn’t one of them. I can’t imagine any Colt 1911 doing better than 1.5” at 25 yards, especially 10 rounds. It’s just not in the cards. Even some high end 1911’s struggle to do that.
