I foolishly sold a circa '64 nickeled 28-2 a few months ago...

Wow that that's a bit of a rare bird!

I think I can honestly say that in all of the gun shops I have been in and all of the gun shows I have been to, I can't ever remember seeing a nickel plated Model 28 before!

Sorry to hear you parted with it but grateful for the photo you posted of it. Thanks for sharing.

The factory nickeled 28's were very rare (I think there were a small batch in 5" done for FL Highway Patrol?). The nickel was pretty cloudy and tarnished when I got it...a couple of hours with some Mother's polish (and new grips) did wonders.

From the "Before" and "After" photos I would say the Mother's Mag Polish and a bit of the old elbow grease did wonders for the Model 28!

You did a great job bringing some shine and life back to that tarnished gun!

my two 28,s, a N 6" and a S 4". paid 400.00 for each off of the same man. he wanted 450.00 for each, but as i wanted both he lowered them to 800.00 for the pair. i can,t think of money better spent.

EECDE532-0A80-404B-81CA-7F98CCD232E1.jpeg Model 28’s are real nice shooting guns. This one I picked up last year is one of my favorite guns to head to the range with. I’m not a huge fan of the magnaported barrel though and have been contemplating finding a 4” barrel to have fitted to it.
