I am a fan of 32acp pistols. They're fun to shoot. My daughter and nephews enjoy shooting several of the ones I have. The recoil is light, but they're "real pistols" instead of "just 22's". They particularly enjoy my Colt 1903 and my Beretta Model 100. However, the Colt has tiny sights, and I don't really want them to put box after box of rounds through my rare Beretta that has already been shot a whole lot.

In the past year or so I learned that for a while Taurus made a version of their PT111 in 32acp. I figured that a pistol that size and weight, firing from a locked breech no less, and with nice big sights, would probably be a lot of fun to shoot.

Some months back one came up for auction on Gunbroker and I bid on it. Unbeknownst to me, I was bidding against a fellow board member, Walkalong. I am a cheapskate, so he won the auction. When I was responding to his thread about it I happened to mention that I was one of the other bidders.

A week or two ago a couple more PT132's came up for auction. Walkalong was thoughtful enough to remember my interest and PM me. I won one of them for a $139 bid. It seems to be a pretty decent pistol.

It's somewhat different than my less-than-a-year-old version of the PT111, but seems to be basically the same pistol, just an older version in a different caliber. Mine has been shot a fair amount. I see some wear on the rails and a bit of a "smiley face" on the barrel. Field stripping is a little wonky, and I couldn't find any info online, but I figured it out on my own without too much trouble. It wasn't clean on the inside, but that was easy to fix. It has obviously seen many hundreds of rounds, but doesn't seem anywhere near worn out. The trigger is very nice (better than my PT111, IMHO), and the sights are great for a 32acp.

It's been raining like crazy around here the past few days, but I'll try to get it to the range next weekend. My guess is that it will be a nice easy shooter, perfect for ladies or kids to plink with. And then those little turkeys can stop trying to wear out my Beretta! :)

If anyone happens to know more about these pistols, I'd love to learn. I'll have to start looking for a spare magazine. And I'm curious if any of them were ever issued as service pistols. I don't see why not. If you were going to issue one in such a puny caliber, the PT132 seems like it would be a better choice than most.

Neat. I remember Walkalong getting his, and being intrigued with it, having never heard of it.

I have something for the 7.65mm Browning round, too (it just sounds better like that!)

It's kind of like a Desert Eagle chambered for .45 ACP, in that it is huge for the caliber, but they are solid reliable guns. I doubt they were ever a service gun, being about 70 years too late for that train. Nice find at a nice price!

I think that there were some Sig P230 Japanese police pistols in 32acp not too long ago. That's one what made me wonder. The little FEG 32acp lookalikes were from the 1970's, IIRC. Maybe I just have an unhealthy obsession with 32acp service pistols. :)

Good luck with the magazine hunt, that's not going to be an easy one as .32's are not popular in the US, one of the reasons I'm not very interested in Beretta Model 100's or Savage 1907's.

Sucks because I would really love to have a Savage 1907, but the spare mag situation with them is much worse than the Taurus.

I'd like to have one of those Savage 32's also.

I guess for a range toy one magazine is probably enough, anyway, but I'm used to always having a spare.
