I have only shot hardball in mine and it hasn't had a problem. After all the Taurus horror stories I heard I wasn't sure of what to expect, but I was hopeful. My faith was well founded!

Yah, all I have is hardball, but that's not a problem. I scored two boxes of PMC 45. ACP today at my LGS, so I am set for a while.

What magazines do you use in yours? Besides the original Taurus ones.

Mec Gar makes the magazines for the PT1911 so if I were to get extras that's what I'd go with. Right now I just have the two it came with.

Mine only came with the one, and original taurus replacements for them are hard to come by. I will look them up, thank you. :)

I've had my PT1911 for about 14 years. No issues with it. Feeds everything I feed it including my all purpose 200 gr LSWC load.

When I carry a 1911 it's the one I carry. All my other 1911s are Colts.

I've had 2 PT1911's, I've since sold both of them. Pistol #1 shot so far left, I couldn't correct it. I even swapped parts between pistols to see if I could come up with a magic combination of parts that would correct it... but no. Pistol #2 started out as a decent pistol, but the slide was soft... the slide metal peened into the firing pin retention plate so much I couldn't remove it, I would have had to use a grinder to get it out.

Congrats on your purchase. Here’s mine. It’s well-made, and has been quite trouble-free for me. I currently have SIG V-Crowns in it. Yes, I’ve carried it often.

It shoots a bit left at longer distances but at SD ranges it’s fine. I love it.

I bought one years ago and it was great. Hardball, to lead semi-wad-cutters, 185 grain to 230, it shot them all and pretty well to boot. Never had a minutes trouble out of it but let the #2 grandson make off with it. Now I have one in 9mm and it has been just as reliable as the 45. It's not quite as accurate as the 45 but I've never had a 9mm of any make that would shoot as accurately as my 45 1911's.

I like mine also.

After 13 years of regular shooting, I had to replace some of the MIM internals. The arm of the 'extra' (Series 80 type) safety broke off and lodged down in the action. I replaced it with the TJ's shim, and took the opportunity for some preventive maintenance, replacing the sear, disconnector, and spring while I had it apart. I also replaced the ambi safety then, as I saw a crack into the 'paddles'. The only regret I have about it was getting the railed version, as I rarely have a light on it, and the rail doesn't fit most of the holsters for railed 1911's. As you can see, it's accurate; this was 15 yards, somewhat fast but not magdump fast. The Hogue palmswell grip really does tighten up the groups.

Nice pistol. What parts did you use to replace the original ones? I am not a fan of the trigger on mine to be honest.

I can't remember the make of the trigger, I replaced that right after I bought the gun.The Nighthawk long trigger at Miday is the closest they have now, but there are plenty of long 1911 triggers out there. I like the longer 1911 trigger vs. A1 length triggers. Wilson Combat A-2 sear and Bulletproof disconnector & spring, Swenson titanium strut, The aforementioned TJ's series 80 replacement shim, and a Remington stock ambi safety. (the last one was a part I already had as I'd bought a bunch of stuff from CDNN well before needing it in a rare moment of forethought.)

I have three Taurus (Mec-gar) mags that came with it, I use those for range mags. I carry it with a Wilson 47D in it, and will replace the CMC Shooting Star that was my back up with the 47D SWMBO bought me for Father's day. (since my kids forgot me...)

Thank you so much for the info. Look forward to looking for parts now. :)

I have used lots of cast reloads in mine and never had a failure, feed, fire or extract. It has been one of the more accurate 1911's that I have owned. Only issue I have had with it was the set screw that holds down the rear sight backed out a bit and the sight shifted. I relined and tightened it down and went back to it. Mine is a two tone (SS slide and blued lower) I bought some time around 2008/09.

I had to move mine when initially sighting in, and blue Loctite'd it down.

I bought my PT1911 heavily used 12 or so years ago. It was a former range rental that had around 25,000 rounds through it at the time it was sold to me. Around 2-3,000 rounds after that my barrel bushing sheared clean off, taking the end cap, recoil spring and plunger downrange. The cap was never seen again but the remaining pieces were recovered. I replaced all the parts involved with Springfield parts. The gun has run flawlessly before and after the incident.

I figure my particular gun was run pretty rough. It is unlikely the range kept up on basic maintenance. They almost certainly didn't replace parts. For all the abuse I have to say my PT1911 has performed wonderfully. It shoots great to boot!

Looks like I need to get some updated photos though...
