Thanks for the feedback. You can certainly tell the wood isnt top notch by any means, it is fit pretty well though. 90% of my guns are shooters with a couple safe queens, if it were too nice i would feel bad stomping around the woods with her. Any modifications you would suggest to bolster some of internals that may be lacking?
Plan to get this one out this weekend for 100 rounds or so and see how it shoots. Hope its not too cold!

I liked the 94 I had when my eyes were 2020 When I reached the time for a scope I did not like the mounts that was had for the 94. I went to a Marlin 336.
My kid always said what good is that little rifle (94)-when I blew up a whiskey bottle ( in a tree) 75 yards away with open sights I never heard another word out of them.

Everything I hear, nobody likes the side-mounted scope on the pre-AE '94. With the '94AE, Weaver and Leupold make 2-piece and, IIRC, 1-piece bases... take your pick for bases and rings. If I were advising somebody on a scope, I'd recommend a low-power... maybe 2.5x21mm or 1.5-4.5x21mm... mounted real low.

I can see some kid getting a lesson in what works with the open sights. Personally, I've found plenty to like with tang-mounted and reciever-mounted apertures over the factory barrel-mounted semi-buckhorn. Unless maybe that's an old Burris or Redfield semi-buckhorn with a white diamond and a 1/16" gold bead out front.

I figure most of us still like pretty rifles, but y'all try to hunt with one lately? Try getting through thick cover without scratching up fine walnut?
