I got a new Taurus PT1911B-1 with my tax return and while shopping for magazines and a holsster i found the new Streamlight TLR-2s to put on the rail

the gun shoots great ive put two boxes of ammo through it and no malfunctions of any kind with three brands of magazines (two taurus mags a wilson combat and a mccormick power 10) and the accuracy shocked me

the light/laser is great im amazed how bright that thing is in total darkness it will light my entire living room to a tollerable level even enough to see my sights
its a nice light and i like the strobe effect not only can i defend my home at night i can send the bad guy into a siezure and maybe stop him without shooting lol

Congrats on the new gun. :D Taurus has a bad rep in general but I have found a lot of positive postings about their 1911 model. I keep waiting for the 9mm version to come out.

I have one... LOVE it.. you will not be disappointed with your purchase... one of the most underrated guns on the market.

I’ve heard Taurus 1911’s have a bad rep, as well. I’ve also heard bad things about Kimbers. I’ve owned both and never had a failure due to the weapon. When you’re dealing with guns that sell well, I believe you ar going to hear the “bad apple” stories. If you go over to GlockTalk, you’ll hear so many complaints about Glocks you’ll think they’re totally unreliable. Guys like me who have flawless functioning models of anything never bother posting rave reviews.

The price point on the Taurus is hard to beat, it’s a nice 1911. Tons of features and looks great to boot. Congrats and enjoy!

How do you like that TLR2? I’ve been thinking of getting one of the new TLR1’s with the strobe effect for my home defense piece.

I think my PT1911 has around 1200 rounds threw it by now and its my EDC main ccw along with my P238 as a bug.
Ive had growing pains along the way with my PT1911 one was i started having failures to feed at 600 rounds, A Wilson 47D mag cleared that up.
At 850 rounds i had extraction issues, My extractor was peened and beat up.
I cleaned it up with a file and adjusted it according to online guides and i was back in business, But seeing it was my EDC ccw i replaced that extractor with a new Wilson unit.

The extractor issue would have never happened if i had known to check its tension and how to do so and how to maintain and adjust it properly. Its a rather soft metal so that didn't help.

During all this i also put in a 22lb recoil spring and the gun shot like a completely different gun, Only use full powered loads with such a heavy spring.
Weaker hand loads can cause issues. The gun shoots so flat with hardly any rotating recoil it makes follow up shots natural.

Mines never been back to Taurus as i feel a 1911 is a Owners gun and made to be worked on by an owner as long as modifications like cutting metal isnt required.
Over all im very happy with this gun and its alot of fun to shoot also.

the light was a bit pricey but worth it IMHO promise not to tell the wife but it was 259.95

the light is great its too bright for me to look at even off to the side it seams tough i shot the gun with the light on it and not even a hiccup its weight is a bit much but this is an HD gun and it balances a little muzzle heavy but still very comfortable plus the weight helps soak up recoil and muzzle flip i was looking for a Surefire X400 when i found this for 100+ less and said why not try it im not dissapointed in it in any way so far and the strobe feature is very nice

i have to agree with follow up shots i dumped the magazine at a silouette just to see if i could make this thing jam and i kept all 8 shots in the "plate"

overall im very satisfied with both the gun and the light

Congrats bro! Welcome to the PT 1911 club. I just bought mine in blued with the railing just last week. It's a great shooter!!
