If walther had better marketing this gun would be wildly popular.
No doubt. This guns popularity has be made through hands on shooting alone. If you like striker fired guns you should have a ppq in your collection or your missing out on a very well made handgun

I've had mine for a couple months now and I love it! I have the M1 version with the paddle release.

I probably have well over 1000 rounds through it by now and not a single malfunction. It's not picky on ammo and with such a fantastic out-of-the-box trigger it is incredibly accurate.

I'm not a fan of plastic frame guns either, I've owned quite a few but never kept them very long. I like all metal handguns with hammers, give me a Sig, CZ, Hi Power and 1911 any day! However the PPQ is probably one of the few plastic frame guns that I've owned that I am absolutely in love with and have no desire to part with.

Yep! I also have a Sig 1911 Carry Scorpion. I love the weight and balance. It's real picky about ammo. It only runs flawless with defensive HP rounds. With FMJ it's a gamble.
The PPQ is a real dream come true :)
I haven't picked any HP for it yet but I'll be trying a few soon.

Girodan,

Walther and Steyr both suffer from lack of recognition. With Walther, they did themselves no good licensing the PPK to Smith. And a further insult was added with the P22 made by Umarex (sp).

When Walther produces their own items, the results are exceptional.

This is really quite interesting. Normally 1911's run very well with fmj and it's a gamble with hp's. Certain 1911's might be being made with hp bullets in mind now days, possibly

I was actually comparing some WWB FMJ today with some Hornaday critical defense and DRT HP rounds. The HP rounds are much smoother where the bullet seals into the brass. That could account for the easy feeding. I'm also noticing a slight use polishing where the rounds ramp into the barrel, so probably in time the FMJ rounds will run better in time. Right now I'm just happy it's reliable with the hallow points.
I DID pick up some other brands of FMJ that I'll be trying out next range trip.

I doubt Walther had much say in this. Since Umarex owns the majority stake in Walther, they are pretty liberal with the use of the Walther name.

I'm pretty sure I seen a ppq m2 the other day without the eagle and buck antler proof marks. What's up with that? Anybody else seen one of those?

I just put in an order for the M2 9mm. Pretty excited about running it through the paces. Not going to lie, I am a little uneasy about carrying this thing with the striker at full cocked (unlike half cocked like the glock) with no external safety. I know the odds are slim of the sear and firing pin block both failing but still. I am used to DA/SA firearms and not so much the wizardry of these fun-dangled striker fired pistols.

Are you sure you didn't see one of the new-style P22s that is made to look like a PPQ?

AFAIK, all PPQs are made in Ulm and will carry the staghorn proofmark of the Ulm proofhouse.

The newest ones will be missing the eagle on the slide which was replaced with the CIP proof mark. Or so I've read. There still should be a the antler or whatever they call it on it though.

Here's one with the CIP proofmark.

What's up with the eagle being replaced? My ppq and my hk both have that eagle. I guess as long as it's made in the Ulm plant it doesn't matter. I just like to know what's going on with my favorite production pistol, lol

I see now. It's just a proof house. I still wonder why they switched from the German standard proof house though.
From my reading, CIP has just standardized the proof mark for all their members. It's too bad, I liked the eagle. Had a chance to get a late 2013 PPQ with the eagle but it was a 40.... I guess I didn't want the eagle proof that badly ;)

As long as mine shoots good I don't care if it's got a eagle, CIP, or anything else. It's one of the finest guns around right now

Well, there is the safety on the trigger that has to be depressed. If there were any accidental discgarges as a result of the design, we would have heard of them by now.

It's a drop safety on the trigger. My understanding is that the striker is fully cocked, held by the sear and also blocked by the firing pin block. If, I know unlikely, the sear and firing pin were to fail the gun would fire without having touched the trigger..... If I read correctly. I know this is a highly unlikely scenario and I will probably never have an issue carrying it (and you're right, if there were an issue we'd heard about it) but it goes beyond, and includes, keep your finger off the trigger.

Still can't wait to take it home though.

Watch your thumbs forward on the slide release....easy to touch it without realizing.....an I heard this one a while ago when I bought the classic when it first came out; ride the recoil, don't fight it.

Seriously the best double stack polymer I've ever shot....

I also edc the PPS... excellent pistol, nothing rivals it in its class....it's not a PPQ mini but is top notch in 9mm.....
