new Winchester .22lr Lever rifle

The high-res pictures at the link are pretty flattering. Nice looking overall. At that MSRP price point it's going to give Henry products a serious run....not to mention if Marlin has plans to reintroduce the 39A.

Aluminum alloy frame vs steel for the 9422. Probably closer to the Henry, but it sure looks better than the Henry in the photos. I'd have to see one in person, but I just might be interested.

Around 2006 I held a Winchester .22 bolt gun at the local SW. For all the grief Henry and the Remlins got for their various quality control and build practices those issues were nothing compared to that gun. It was more a ‘Wincheszky’ being made by Baikal (if I remember correctly).

That had to be Winchesters low point. I kinda wish now I would have bought it for no other reason than I could post a pic of it every time discussions about quality show up.

I fly Old Glory at the house so Made in Turkey is an issue for me. However, I can’t fault someone for wanting their moneys worth and that .22 does look appealing. Seems to have little if any plastic in it and forgoes the Zamak receiver for aluminum alloy. That negates a sticking point for some as I don’t hear anyone giving Rugers 10/22 demerits for theirs.

My Henry is 100% reliable in feeding and shooting any 22RF ammo I put in it, from the shortest to the longest.

I see the Winchester says, 22LR, it doesn't say anything about feeding CB's or anything else.

Darn, everyone seems to be jumping on the 22 rimfire lever action band wagon. Mix this in with a Henry and Rossi and you have 3 almost identical guns. I think Chiappa is also in this game. I have a Henry LBF and it exceeds both the Rossi and the pictuered Winchester in finish and quality of wood. Of course it cost more for that. I have no problem with zamak in a 22 rimfire. It has been long proven to be durable for their use. The Henry is US made and if I ever buy another that's what it will be.

How many CB's can you fit in a henry tube?

I dunno, I kinda like it. And if it comes in under $400, I think I'd be a buyer for no other reason than having a "cheap" 22 lever gun to drag through the woods on those days I'd rather leave the nice guns at home. That, and the fact this new Winchester is a takedown and doesn't have an external safety pretty much clinches the deal for me. If it functions good, and is accurate, I could see it giving Henry a run for their money.

I'm glad to see that Winchester is getting back into the rimfire market, regardless of where the guns are made. And coming from a man with several pre-war Winchester rifles and shotguns, that's saying something. The new X-pert sporter with wood stock is also very interesting to me, and for the price I might be a buyer on it as well. I can't help but hope they'll re-introduce some type of pump action 22 as well; might not be interesting to some but it would certainly interest me.
