I actually agree with most of what Willie says regarding the Scout rifle, and enjoy hearing about his experiences with that and his adventures on the water with his AK... but he is way off base when he insists that there is no benefit to chrome lining, and assumes that everybody who wants a Kalashnikov wants it for "sporting purposes only" and not for any serious use.
FYI, I don't make a regular habit of getting into gunfights either, but keeping the rationale behind the 2A in mind, I like to be able to rely that if I had to give my rifle a heavy round count under some not-so-great conditions and wasn't always able to clean it and scrub the chamber, that I could rely on it to perform. Hence I pay a lot of attention to things like materials and testing for my defensive and 2A purpose firearms.
