NH non resident ccw under 21

ok ive been looking into this nh has a non resident ccw and it doesnt specify an age. from my research ive determined that they will issue a resident permit to someone under 21.

now to the point NC recognizes the NH permit but I cant get an NC permit till im 21, so if i got a NH permit would i be set for carry in NC?

edit so i need a permit from another state that will issue under 21 wow this is complicated

I think that if you pull the string a little, you will find that NC recognizes a NH permit, if a NH resident, with a NH permit is carrying in NC.

An out of state permit from another state doesn't do you any good in your home state.

And don't believe anything I or anyone else tells you on line.

Call the state police or the atty. generals office in your state and ask them. They will be happy to give you an authoritative answer.

i found a list of states that recognized NH permits and there was a * beside any state that only recognized a resident permit

I looked into this myself a few months ago. You need a valid CCW permit in order to get the non-resident permit. See the NH CCW application.

"A non-resident pistol permit will not be issued unless you supply: A copy (front & back) of your valid concealed carry permit issued by the state, county, or town in which you reside, or a valid concealed permit issued by any other state."

An exception is made for residents of Vermont only.

There was a <21 member on here in the past who lived in NC and claimed to be legally carrying in NC (with the AG's concurring with him) on a NH permit, the he obtained by first obtaining a Maine permit (which does not have a permit pre-req and issues at 18). You can find his thread by the search function. As far as legality is concerned, YMMV.

I'm 23 and just got my CCW. Sometimes I feel like my decision making capability and maturity are just barely there for CCW. Be patient and don't do anything you'll regret. Take your time now to master the handgun weapon system, you can never have enough practice. Handguns are just too easy to handle in a dangerous way.

well ive been shooting since i was 12 and work summers and breaks in college working for direct tv. after an attempted car jacking this summer i want a permit

after working with my local range and multiple appleseed i trust my self to have a pistol in the car with me

Why not just open carry in your vehicle until you turn 21?

I've almost always got a pistol or AR in my car. As long as it's in sight the police can't say anything to me. I'll be getting my concealed weapons permit the end of this month...so I'll not have your problem anymore.

i dont feel comfortable oc'ing with the grotesquely vague statute concerning "going armed to the terror of the public" its a crappy law and pretty much anyone with a gun in public can be charged with it

Hate to burst your bubble. . .Last time I read the non-res app form it said a copy of your ccw from your state of residence was required as part of the process. You may want to go online & check into it on the NH State PD site.

Regardless of where your permit is issued, you must comply with the laws where you are carrying. So even if NH would issue a permit to a 19YO, if it's not legal for anyone under 21 to CC in NC, that's what needs to be followed.

The statute defining the age limit to obtain a CCW permit and the statute defining the age limit for carrying a firearm are two entirely different statutes. The age limits may not be the same.

That is not universally true. Texas, for instance has many misdemeanor restrictions on their CHL. So some people who don't qualify for the Texas permit can obtain a Utah or Florida permit and use that to carry in Texas. Age limits is another issue. MO won't issue a concealed carry permit if a person is under 23 years old. So MO residents under 23 years old must obtain an out of state permit to carry in MO.
