Hi I'm looking at ordering a Nighthawk Bob Marvel Custom 45 auto. The supposed benefit is reduced recoil and faster folowup shot compaired to a regular 45 like a Brown Kobra Carry, my other possible choice. Anyone have experience with Nighthawk and this particular gun in question ??

I'd like to order one with a gold bead front sight and deleting the rear tritium.

No I dont want a longer gun I want a commander length.

Please only comment if you have experience with the guns in question. I'm not interested in discussing Kimbers, etc.

Comments ??????????????

Thx

JJ

while I have a few Hawks I do not own that one.

However, you might want to go to 1911addicts.com where there is a greater chance at getting your question answered.

While I do not own a Nighthawk Bob Marvel, I do have a couple of guns with flatwire recoil springs like the Everlast System they make so many claims for.

I cannot tell a difference in felt recoil and followup shots.

I can say that it gets more spring steel into the space available and is a big help with the shorter guns on spring strength and service life.

I found a thread on the 1911 board with many pictures and the post:
"Good eye! You are correct. The slide is a Gov. cut down to commander. Gov. frame as well."
Built that way, it needs the flatwire recoil spring for sure. Slide travel is the same as GM, not Commander, which most people who have tried them like, but it leaves a lot less spring space that the flat coil can fit.

The chopped gov and commander Nighthawks are done that way for reliability. I didn't notice any difference in recoil in the .45 versions. I'm not recoil sensitive though.

Obviously the 9mm's are pretty light recoiling.

Hope you got other replies- I love my Bob Marvel NIGHTHAWK- daily carry, everything else went into the safe- confident at 25 yards, absolutely the best 1911 out there! Come to Ga and shoot mine anytime!

And yes, felt recoil is lighter resulting in faster follow up
Amazing system- it is bushingless, so that's a difference- but that's all it is

Gentlemen,

We prefer you start a new thread and referencing the old thread rather than resurrecting an old thread
