Latest acquisition, Nimschke Special Edition engraved, gold plated, and ivory stocked, one of fifty, C series, 2nd Generation Colt, 3rd Model Dragoon.

A local gun shop once had one of those on consignment.
They let me take some photos of it at the time, but I can't locate the post.
It's a beautiful piece.
Did you purchase it at an auction or from a private seller?

Thinking back, IIRC the gun that I saw looked like it had tarnish on some of the engraved areas that might indicate that it was silver plated maybe?
Do you think that it is?

Many will cringe at this, but I'd have to shoot it, if for nothing else to see the folks' reaction at the range.

It's silver. I paid too much from an auctinon: but it fits in my 2nd gen collection very well.

Stunning...absolutely stunning! Very tastefully done with the engraving and the gold and silver plating. The carved ivory stocks go perfectly with the rest of the gun.

More like rotating stock than selling off ? Always adding 2nd Gens to collection. Unfortunately that means lesser models feed the the inventory
