Variant 1 DA/SA with control lever (safety/decocking lever) on left. Standard model.
Variant 2 DA/SA with control lever (safety/decocking lever) on right.
Variant 3 DA/SA with control lever (decocking lever) on left.
Variant 4 DA/SA with control lever (decocking lever) on right.
Variant 5 DAO with control lever (safety lever) on left.
Variant 6 DAO with control lever (safety lever) on right.
Variant 7 DAO with no control lever.
Variant 9 DA/SA with control lever (safety lever) on left.
Variant 10 DA/SA with control lever (safety lever) on right

WOW.

Most of what I've seen for sale are variant one.

And can anyone break down what significant improvements the Expert (which supposedly shares some features as the Mk23) has over the standard USP? As far as I can tell, it's the trigger and O-ring, but highly doubt they are the same as the mark23, just maybe different than the standard. Anyone know? I understand the Elite and Expert are identical except for length.

The Expert has the match trigger group installed, adjustable sights, O-ring barrel, and a longer barrel.

The Elite has an even longer barrel, a lightened slide, and the one I saw looked like it was hand fitted - very nice (and very expensive).

Yeah that's what I would expect if the Elite's slide is "hand fitted", as it says in some descriptions- but on sites selling both elites and experts, they are listed at the same price, and the hand fit bit about the elite's slide is not in the description for the expert. It amazes me they are the same price, if that is true. (there is no mention of this hand fitting business on HK's site, so I am skeptical).

Don't forget the Tactical, with adjustable sights, threaded (and slightly longer) barrel and O-ring.

Do you count that as a variant, or just extra trimmings/accerssories/options?

Tne tactical isn't a different variant but rather a completely different model. Still a USP model but cataloged as a USP Tactical. Unless one's definately going to have a suppressor, I see no reason (other than to get attention and think "hey look bbl threads") to spend the xtra over the standard USP. Wanna longer bbl, go or the Expert or Elite.

Anywho... Morgan has it down in a nutshell. Neither are any longer being imported. I've waited long eniugh myself and will likely be ordering the Elite next week.
