NJ: Bill to reclassify BB guns as non firearms
Assembly bill 546 currently in the 216th NJ Legislature aims to clarify that BB guns are not firearms under New Jersey law.
Currently under NJ Law, airguns (bb guns) are considered firearms and require the FID (Firearms ID Card) to purchase air rifles and a Permit to Purchase a Pistol to buy a airgun bb pistol.

The changed legislation would read:
" It shall not include any air gun or pistol which uses air, compressed air or carbon dioxide as the propelling force to eject a ball or non-pointed pellet that does not exceed .177 caliber at a
muzzle velocity of less than 500 feet per second, commonly referred to as a BB gun"
It is Sponsored by:Assemblyman JOHN DIMAIO
District 23 (Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren)
Assemblywoman ALISON LITTELL MCHOSE
District 24 (Morris, Sussex and Warren)
Co-Sponsored by:Assemblyman Space
If you live in New Jersey, get others to call their politicians and support this.
I have no other information on the legislation. If I find out more I will post it here.
