Hi,
I have a question regarding my Norinco NHM-91 and Tapco or other US made magazines...

My rifle has the thumbhole stock, and is completely stock with nothing replaced or added, except when I purchased it, it already had the rivet ground off and came with a couple 30rd Chinese (I think) magazines. I've read that the rifle originally came with 5rd mags, of which I do not have any...
My question is:
If I use US made mags, and change nothing else on this rifle, will it be legal and/or 922r compliant?
If I use US made mags, I am reducing the number of foreign parts, so as long as I change nothing else I should be okay, right?

The issue I have with swapping out a bunch of parts is that my wife absolutely *LOVES* the rifle exactly the way it is, thumbhole stock and all...

I believe you only have to worry about swapping parts for 922r compliance if you change its current configuration by adding something "evil", like a flash hider, bayonet lug, or stock with a separate pistol grip. With the existing thumbhole stock, you don't have to change anything from the way it came, unless you live somewhere that outlaws normal capacity magazines.

I bought an NHM91 back when they first came into the states. The LGS was selling modified 30 round AK mags with them. They had milled the front slot like the 5 round mags used.

Not being overly concerned with round count between mags, I just used the OEM one. At about the 500 round mark, the rivet cracked, and fell out. I never bothered to change anything, but was able, if I wanted, to use 20 and 30 round mags.:D
