95 Gr. Ballistic Tip IN 243 CAL.
140 gR. " " " " 7MM-08
I yet to purchase any high end bullets in the last 40 + years I shot tons of Hornady ,sierra, speer and can say the each bullet stop deer dead in there tracks.
I thought I spend some extra $$$ : will I see a big difference????
I never shot noslers before

Nosler ballisitic tips are as accurate shooting IMO as any Sierra, and work very well on game. I would consider the 120 gr Ballisitic Tip in the 7-08 in place of the 140 gr though. That is my choice in my 708. I find it to be a tad more accurate in my rifle and the bullet is actually as tough or tougher then the 140. Nosler uses the 140 gr bullet jacket and snips the tip short to make up for the difference in the core. This leaves a thicker then normal jacket that performs very well in cartridges like the 708 or 7x57 on deer size game.

I don't think Noslers are any better than Hornady, Sierra and Speer. I usually only buy Nosler bullets when they're available as seconds. I've found their match bullets to be every bit as accurate as Sierra Match Kings but from an accuracy point of view, have had better luck with brands besides Nosler when it comes to hunting bullets.

All the bullet makers you list make quality game bullets, but it never hurts to try new things.
The Nosler bullets made an impression with their 'Partition' bullet range for it's performance on large, tough critters.
And has been a popular hunting bullet choice since.

I'm totally happy with Ballistic Tip in 223, 7mm, and 30 caliber. Never used them in any other caliber, just those 3.

Very, very consistent dimensionally. Easy to load. Accurate and consistent patterns. But I don't use them often due to cost. Of course performance on game is as good or better than any premium bullet from Hornady Sierra Speer or Remington, so focus on accuracy in your particular rifles. Try a box and see if it works. If they don't exceed the accuracy of your present bullets, don't buy any more.

I hope they work well in the 243 cal. 95 BT
The 140 grain in the 7MM-08 should be o.k. I don't load on the high side nosler load table runs from
44.5* 3001 fps 82%
42.5 2931 fps 78%
40.5 2861 fps 75%
The 44.5 they shoot the best,I found my rifle like 43.0 grains of IMR 4350I just may load a few on the bottom end to start I would like the bullet not to exit the deer.

Which Nosler manual are you useing? I`ve 4 of them and don`t see any data for a 140 gr bullet that will hit 3000fps from a 7-08. The 120gr will go 3100 easily but you can only get a little better then 2900 with the larger bullet. I hope you are refering to the 243 Win.
BTW 46.5 gr of IMR 4350 under a 140 gr Ballisitic Tip gave me 2700 fps froma 24" barreled 7-08. 43 grs should be on the mild side, maybe 2500 fps. I doubt this will help much to keep the bullet in a deer at shorter range. I`ve seen quite a few shot with 150 gr bullets from a 30-30 at about 2200 fps and don`t recall any that didn`t exit unless they were north - south shots.

If your looking decreased penetration, while retaining stopping power, loading the lighter weight hunting bullets at full velocity is better than the heavier bullets at lower velocity.

As the extra velocity of the lighter bullets increases expansion, which transfers more of the bullets energy into the target, resulting in less penetration.

Depending on the size, a 80-85gr hunting bullet in 243win will have no problems dropping a whitetail, without exiting in most situations.

If you're interested in Nosler bullets, here's a little secret that will make you happy. They have a pro shop that sells factory seconds for half the price or less in some cases. Call them and ask what they have on the shelf. Don't rely on the online inventories, they all say unavailable. If you call then you can find out what came off the production line that week. I used to work there and their factory seconds are the only ones I buy. Just cosmetically blemished but otherwise shoot just the same. http://www.shootersproshop.com/

All I've been using in 7mm-08 is the 140gr Sierra GameKing. Super accurate although I haven't shot anything but paper with it yet. Hunting deer in the southeast the Sierra is as good as the Nosler. Here's the real difference:

50ct box Nosler Partition 140gr bullets = $36
100ct box Sierra GameKing 140gr BT Spitzer bullets = $26

I got into handloading for the economy so I go with Sierra. When the point comes I can do it for "vanity" I'll try Noslers.

On of my camp mates, here in the Adirondacks, had taken 2 deer in the 200 lb. range with the 140 gr. combined technology .284 with one shot results.

I took a 145 lb. buck also with the 140 gr. combined technology .284, also one shot.

We like Noslers.

Sorry to call BS but you need to compare bullets of similiar construction/purpose. That would be the Nosler Ballistic Tip vs the Sierra Gameking and the price difference is

26 for 100 vs 16 for 50.

I have used nosler 150gn ballistic tips for whitetail in .30-06 for about 15 years. They shoot great and perform great. Never had any reason to change.
