Not happy with Sportsman's Warehouse

I understand your frustration, but the problem is not SW. Everything is moving slower today. I'd say you were pretty darn lucky to even find a gun right now. I've been waiting for my local gun shop to locate a couple of handguns I want to buy since April.

I know of a few fellas that have very poor gun purchase experiences at Sportsman Wharehouse, especially in Wa. State. The people working there could care less about communication after the money was taken. One in particular was my co workers Father that paid for a Gold Cup and didn’t hear back for over a month than was told that the paperwork had expired. He told them to stuff it and got his money back.

In this Covid market. I would not be worried about it. Everything is slowed down. From the shipping department, to the shippers to the customer service department. I would just relax a little and wait for it to come it. Even at a 2 week wait, thats not bad for this current situation. I just yesterday I received a ar15 parts kit that I ordered back in July. When I placed the order they said shipping is "delayed". So I was not worried.

I understand the frustration. When a company accepts your money, there should be a time frame on when a product is delivered. If the op was told there might be delayed that’s another story. Yes I have several decades on me.

If the Background check was delayed long enough for the paperwork to expire (assuming your friend is allowed to own firearms and filled out the paperwork properly) I would put the blame on the NICS check and not sportsman’s. If a background check is still delayed why would they employees be prompted to call him?

I don’t claim to know the ins and outs of how the background checks work but by what you said I would guess that the check never got approval and expired before it went through.

Back in the ‘90’s, I placed a down payment on a BP “Squirrel” rifle from a Ted Hatfield (of Hawkin’s Shop fame) operation; almost 5 years later, I still had no product. Finally, my patience ran out and I requested my deposit be returned. To my dismay, I was told that he would have to run that request by his board and get board approval to refund my deposit - my deposit was refunded about a month later. Obviously, I learned a bit more about life from that experience - to this day, I am not sure if I should be proud of that patience or just embarrassed. Patience is certainly conditional.

I have never ordered a firearm from Sportsman's. I did order some primers from them for store pickup a couple of months ago when I could not find them anywhere else locally. I was told that I would receive a message from them whenever the primers arrived at the store. I never received a message and finally called the store 5 days after the projected delivery date. CS stated the primers were at the store and they had attempted to call me when the primers arrived. I do not have access to my phone while I am working, but no voice mail messages had been left. Whenever I picked the primers up they were packaged extremely well and the sale price was the best I have seen. If they have more available in the future I will not hesitate to buy more from them. As others have stated, I have received delayed deliveries from several sellers lately. Most of them have been due to the shipping companies rather than the actual sellers. Try to be patient and hopefully your gun will arrive soon in pristine condition.

I've bought a few things from Sportsmans Warehouse and they've been great. Shipped the product quickly, no issues. They have over 300,000 feedbacks on GB with the usual A+ ratings. On some items they seem to buy in large quantities and just start them at a penny. There's no telling how many Burris 4.5-14 Fullfield scopes they've sold that way in the past couple of years. They have 32 auctions running right now for that scope. BTW, they will typically top out in the $150 - $180 range, which is a huge bargain for the quality of scope that Fullfield model is. I find that scope to be optically preferable to the ~$500 Leupolds I have owned and compared them to.

I wouldn't have been concerned about a week between online order and delivery before all this panic buying. Now I'd be very surprised if I got shipping that fast.

Agree 100%. And for a while, Burris was running buy a 4.5-14 and get a 3-9 free promotion. I have a couple Burris 4.5-14’s and and a Weatherby MK XXII with a 3-9 on it LOL. Too many scopes and not enough guns!

Things are slower for some things and just as fast as normal on others.

Have patience, it’ll arrive and you’ll be scrambling to locate ammo to feed it before you know it :).

Here in Ca we get to not only wait for our payment to clear and the shipping time from seller to FFL.... but then 10 whole days after filling out the paperwork (or more, they can take up to 30 according to the law) for the mandated waiting period.

And it isn’t just a select retailer affected...I had to wait nearly a month from the auction win to FFL paperwork to pick up a couple of guns I bought at the start of the panic buying session. My background check approval took 21 days from CaDOJ for one gun at one retailer, 18 for another background at different FFL. I just flowed with it, as this was out of my hands.

Stay safe.

You know deep down, that just stinks... I do feel for you guys in those gun oppression states..

OP’s wording indicates he was given a time frame from the shipper. He has reasonable expectations for that time frame to be accurate.
UPS is the absolute worse in this region. I’d never knowing select them.

As a 79 year old I agree with the OP. What’s age got to do with expecting a delivery on time. I get PO’d when UPS gives me a tracking number then doesn’t show up on the designated day.

Wpuld not post my frustration on a forum but it would be there no the less.

His father who is a around 70 years old without any prior incidents of any kind after getting his money back went to my guy in Edgewood where the sale went right through.

Let's have this one die. Nothing new or informational is being said.
