I'd encourage any THR members who can possibly make it to come to the NRA Annual Meeting in Phoenix this weekend.

If you've never been, the display hall is like being at the SHOT Show, except you don't have to be dealer to get in. All the major firearms manufacturers will have hands-on displays of their latest products and there are lots of smaller companies with interesting and unusual gun related products in their booths.

Be sure to catch the collector displays at one end of the display hall. Collector clubs from around the country set up exceptional displays from the best guns in the finest and most interesting private collections, for display competition. Up to 10 guns will be awarded the coveted NRA Silver Medals for best guns on display.

Throw in seminars; talks by the likes of Wayne LaPierre, NRA Officers, John McCain, Mitt Romney, John Bolton, Michael Regan, Oliver North and more; live entertainment; auctions and banquets; NRA Store and much much more - you've got a gunnish great weekend.

See you there! - Jim

Yep, thanks for the reminder Johnny!

My final agenda shows Mr. Stossel and Lt. Col. North as the featured speakers for the banquet - should be outstanding! - Jim

Is there a fee to get in to the show this weekend? I know there is for the banquets, but not sure about the general show. The reason I ask is that I signed up for the recent introductory membership and I just received an email from them asking me to upgrade to a paying member. The email states that free entry into shows is part of being a paid member.

Not official, here's my best understanding:

The meeting and exhibit hall are free to NRA members. I'm pretty sure you can join or have your membership verified at the door if you don't have your card with you.

I *THINK* non-members may be able to get in for a charge ($10?), but don't hold me to that.

Here's the link to annual meeting info at the NRA website:

http://www.nraam.org/

You might be able to find a better answer by poking around there.

There also should be info in your latest membership mag (Am. Rifleman, Am. Hunter, 1st Freedom).

Hope that helps, sorry I don't have the full info at hand. - Jim
