NRA Life Membership - Jacket?

LOL, I became a lifer in 64...didn't have any thing else to spend it on.......
never regretted it. o freebies then....

I upgraded to Life on the NRA site last year. Later on someone asked me about the jacket. "Jacket, what jacket?"

I called member services one day while I was sitting around waiting on a client to show up and the first thing the rep said was "How did you pay, on the website?" The offer wasn't on the website. They sent me a jacket. It's okay, but I like my Coronado jacket more(yeah, yeah, I know, a $450 jacket should be nicer.)

I ELP'ed on the web a few days ago, i figure the jacket, if there is one, would come by when my membership is paid.

Matters not, they could send me a cheap paper ID card and a plastic decoder ring and I'd still be happy, 'cause they're helping to fight the good fight

Yes, in the line just above your name on the right side. I don't remember whether Annual member shows anything, but other levels read "Life", "ENLIFE" and "PTLIFE". Don't know the Benefactor abbreviation . . . yet!

Thanks for the info, I guess I'm a Patron. Some how being an Endowed Member has a better ring to it, though.

I once paid at a range for membership that included a 1 year NRA membership... never heard anything about that again..

I wonder if I qualify for Distinguished Life Membership (age 65+ or Disabled Veteran) I don't collect any disability from the government but the DAV felt I deserved to be a member.

Just notice, that as a disabled veteran, a lifetime membership is only $375.

I just might have to upgrade.

However, whenever I receive a mailer from them that says, "donate $32, the sky is falling ...... and we'll give you this great book", I just toss them into the trash.

Before I joined a couple of years back on the EPL, I exchanged some emails with some guy in membership at the NRA regarding the leather jacket. He was very helpful. I joined, and then sent him one more email, requesting that I NOT be contacted with fund raising efforts. In 2 years, I think I've recieved just 1 fund raising letter.

If you want the jacket, you better contact them and confirm this. When I exchanged email with that guy before I joined, he told me that if I EPL'd, I could still get the jacket provided I paid a single lump of at least $500 to finish the balance of my my membership. So when I joined, it was $700 and I've paid $25 per quarter since. So I need to plop down $500 soon if I want the jacket.

Here is the relevant portion of the email I received:

If a member is on the EPL Plan and has a remaining balance of $500+ they will qualify for the free leather jacket offer.
