This is for informational purposes only!
Please don't get into a big discussion 'bout which is more (or less) evil like the last thread-IT'S COMEDY FOLKS! :banghead:

Comdey Central tonight-Lewis Black's Root of all Evil
Tonight's topic is NRA vs. PETA-which is more evil?

I made what I thought was going to be an informational only post last week, but it quickly went downhill!
NRA vs PETA was supposed to be on last week, but was bumped by another topic. It's "supposed" to be on tonight!
Preview clip here-and if you don't care for satire, better get yourself a roll (or 2) of duct tape!

Activism?

Gotta say, guys, this doesn't look a lot like activism.

If you can show that it IS then I'll leave it open (maybe moved to DISCUSSION).

If not, then we'll have to can it.

I personally don't find him funny, but he usually hates everything the same. So he will probably be just as negative towards PETA as he is the NRA.

MMM Website said:
He is a long time ardent supporter of gun violence efforts and we are proud to give him this award.
So...he's a long time supporter of violence efforts? No wonder the MMM love him...those MMM people can be pretty violent from what I've seen at their 'protests'...

IBTL....

Yeah, as ridiculous as it was, at least he was equally hateful towards each side... haha.

Just finished watching it.

Meaningless, perhaps more so than I expected.

There was a nice moment, though where the "prosecutor" of the NRA (the show is structured like a fake courtroom) referenced the Heller decision, and said something like, "It's over! You've won! Nobody's going to take your guns away. We're good."

The rest of the show notwithstanding, that one bit is great. That would do just fine, if that was how non-gunnies thought. If they could just leave it at that, then everyone could shut up about it, including me.

Of course, it's never just left at that, is it?

I don't think more evil is the way to compare them, but more moral would be PETA. One group is trying to stop the suffering of Gods creatures, although they sometimes do it in childish ways. They other group is about stopping every possible law involving a material item, guns. Seems like a no brainer.

IT'S COMEDY FOLKS!

Lewis Black must know a definition of comedy that I am unfamiliar with. I thought comedy meant "humorous" or "funny". Silly me, what could I have been thinking...

I don't think the NRA has ever endorsed the actions of any domestic terrorist/bomber. From what I learned on Penn and Teller, PETA sure has.

I did love what the PETA prosecutor had to say...
'Ingrid Newkirk is against seeing eye dogs... I hope she goes blind'.

Got humor? Come on guys, Lewis Black is a comedian, and his shtick is being "Angry". Since when is the NRA a Sacred-Cow? So gun owners are portrayed negatively, is it any wonder in a nation where the media portrays gun violence as their top stories for decades? People know that Black exagerates, just enjoy or flip the channel.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

I made a very disparaging poster about them that I wish I could post, but it violates pretty much every THR rule.

PM me if you want to see it...

Comedy Central is one of the few channels I watch, I'll probably catch this episode at some point.

the problem george29 is that there is a bunch of people who cant see the difference and they are the ones who also watch jon stewart.

I watch Jon Stewart:uhoh:

Well, Jon Stewart is balanced by the Colbert Report, viewed by the same people.

I was listening to Michael Savage last night and he clarified the difference between the Conservatives and the Republicans. It made me realize that not all liberals are leftists and not all Democrats are liberals. Those that can't see the difference are a problem but not an insurmountable one.

BTW, I like Jon Stewart, I CAN see certain things from his POV. As Chris Rock stated and I am prone to agree with wholeheartedly, "Some things I am liberal about, others I am conservative."

FWIW, anyone that listens to any of the major news media or reads stuff like Yahoo / Google / MSN news and thinks they are getting the truth are simpletons. Case in point would be this Georgia - Russian - Poland - USA - Israel thing going on. The news media makes it sound like the Russkies are the aggressors when in fact it was us that started this. Bush is a Republican, not a Conservative, and he may well leave us with another shooting war before his legacy is over. On this, I am a liberal, we need to get out of Russia's backyard and stop teasing Ivan's Pitbull, it has a vicious bite when let loose.

Ironically, PETA kiils a LOT of animals every year. (They run some adoption kennels, and you know what happens to those who don't get adopted...)

I've never heard of the NRA shooting anybody tho...
