How many gun forums are you registered with. I'm new to shooting and want to learn as much as I can, so I regularly visit these:

packing.org
smith-wesson
texas chl
shotgunworld
glock talk

There are alot of duplicate discussions, but each one is still unique. I seem to spend most of my time on THR!

Am I missing any other good forums?

Chuck

I've browsed many forums over the years, and joined several, but for the last three years I've restricted myself to THR as my online "home", and TFL as a second option. Before THR was founded, TFL was "home" for me. None of the other forums offer civilized, polite discussion and depth of knowledge to the same degree as these two, IMHO - and I'm not just saying that because I'm a moderator here.

TFL
THR
APS

I started with TFL, TFL closed for a bit, THR gave me and TFL family a place to go; TFL re-opened. APS is for non gun stuff with THR, TFL and some other folks. TFL set the bar for ALL internet discussions, THR carries forth this standard.

Oh I am registered elsewhere, not always under this username. Then there are those forums such as TFL , THR, and APS that wished I was not registered. :p

See these forums are my Wikipedia if you will. I read, do research and many times I actually log on to read secure PMs from some forum when I for instance do not need to use email.

I have other 'resources' I use as well, such as blogs.

Always find it funny folks will bash a "username" on one forum and admire the same person using a different "username" on another forum.

I sometimes have to log in for concern of being "inactive" , or to access some search information, or saved information in a PM I put in code ...so I would know the alarm code and safe combo, when I was out of state. :p

Ain't the 'Net Great!!

I lurk TFL (The Firing Line) a lot but don't have time to post in multiple forums ... plus, I've found a thread topic in TFL today will appear in THR tomorrow, and vice versa ...

www.1911forum.com
is one of my favorites; great source for technical advice on 1911s, active LEO and revolver forums there as well as the other usual groups ...

APS (Armed Polite Society), as mentioned, is a good way to see how THR folks think about non gun-related stuff and just about anything under the sun ...

If someone ever directs you to AR-15.com ("ARFCOM"), just be advised many there are nowhere near as polite as the folks here usually are ... it gets pretty crude over there, but there's a bit of good AR-15 technical stuff ...

I've checked out a lot of them, but generally stick w/ THR unless I have a very, very specific question, in which case I go to a brand-specific board. Posted a few questions on the T/C Contender forum, searched the Marlin forum, etc.

I've done some reading and a few posts on www.ar15.com, and they have a huge array of AR knowledge and experience there. They've got some really, really crazy cats there among the ARFers. However, I find the overall vibe, breadth of info, and level of courtesy to be best on THR.

As far as gun related forums go, just this one. I have checked out other ones but none of them seem to be in line with my tastes.

As far as all forums go, I only regularly post at one other one, and that's a game related site.

IMO the two best for overall gun information (not specializing in a particular brand, model, etc.) are: THE HIGHROAD and THE FIRING LINE. They are well monitored and policed. Others (not all) seem to enjoy flaming posts and cutting on the opinions of other members. Gun care and handling of firearms is important. I've gain alot of knowledge from experienced shooters and hopefully I've been able to pass some along as well.

I was originally with TFL until they closed at the end of 2002, and then joined THR. I occasionally go to GlockTalk.com for their caliber specific sub-sites, as well as their state specific sites. I also visit packing.org occasionally, but I don't like their "new" website layout....

THR is my favorite; good folks here...

echo preacherman. THR is definitely the "it" of gunsites. gastro intestinal terminations don't last long here.

when TFL dropped off line, i came here to THR. TFL re-emerged and i went back for a Short time, but, it was not the same, so i came back here and have no plans to move unless we let this site cave in for lack of monetary support.

there are other interesting sites, but, THR is more "solid", for lack of a better word.

am i beating the drum for THR? yep. stick around and you'll discover why.

I visit the High Road as my first stop when I fire up the computer, then head over to Glock Talk. I've done some lurking around on 1911forum but don't really feel at home there. The wealth of information on these sites is well worth the price of admission.

highroad
fireingline
armed polite society
CZ forum

I'm also a member of rugerforum and perfectunion.com, but seldom get there. I'm about maxxed out as far as stuff I can give my attention to.

THR
APS
CombatCarry
PistolSmith
Packing.ORG
Brian Enos
Survivor's SKS Board
Frugal Squirrel's
AR15

THR, APS, and Frugal's are the sites that I read into most. The others I mostly consult for specific info.

still around on ak-47.net/gunsnet.net
long gone from fnfal.com
Since I found this place during the CZ group buy, it's become my most frequented gun-related board.

I'm also on mercedesshop.com, and yes I'm actually surprised how many lexus liberals don't actually drive lexus...

I have multicultural tastes:

I like my beer Irish
I like my cars German
I like my guns Czech... American, Romanian, Yugoslavian, Italian, Russian, Finnish and Bulgarain
and I like my women Southern :)

THR
TFL
APS
GlockTalk
24hour Campfire
Shotgun World
Shooters Forum
Muzzleloading Forum
Gunsnet
Shooters Lobby

I visit THR, TFL, APS and 24 Hour Campfire most often.
THR and TFL are the one's I prefer to participate in. Both have great crowds to hang out with. Both have a balance of diverse interests among the forums. The moderators are knowledgeable and treat folks fairly when trying to maintain civility among strangers.
The others I check somewhat infrequently and only when I'm looking for something specific.

Yep, same here.

Grew up with TFL and move to THR when the old house closed down.

Now its THR, APS and occasionally TFL.

I'm a member at Glocktalk, 1911forum, 10mmTalk, AR15.com, KTOG,Savage shooters, Taurus Talk and Varminter.com but vary rarely visit them unless I'm looking for something specific.

When TFL went offline THR was born as its unofficial(?) successor. At the same time I remember there was also a second board that launched. Anyone remember what board that was. Is it still around?

I'm a member of TFL and AR15.com and GlockTalk.com... but TFL is home for me as well. Very rarely visit anything else. I usually hit THR, Drudge, NamePros.com and WaltonFeed.com

THR

I have tried with TFL but it wont let me post. I guess they dont have time for me. Ar-15 .com makes me feel like i need anti depressants. I like th folks on THR and have completed a sucessful swap. I just wish I could remember the name so I could give him a +1 on the rate transaction board. Oh Yeah I tried to register with the sig forum today and they said my name was permanatly banned from their site. Is there another Mot45acp?
