There is going to be an "Open Carry" walk as a political statement on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati at 1:00 on Florida Avenue. This comes on the heels of the Ohio Supreme Court's ruling Wednesday that the ban on concealed carry is a reasonable restriction on what they found to be the fundamental right to bear arms in Ohio.

We are hoping that others can quickly organize similar events in other Ohio cities. Anyone willing to step up?

This is important, folks.

Ohio law and the courts are silent on open carry. The risk of being arrested for trumped up charges of inciting panic or disturbing the peace for open carry are nill if the press is present and cameras are rolling.

Wish I could join you in Ohio. I think any of the remaining states that don't pass concealed carry should do the same...open carry walks.

Unless something pops up around here, my only option is cinci. Depending on who will ride with me and if i feel any better ( got mono), i may drive down.

Some additional info to pass on:

According to the press and Mr. Ferrier, in the last couple of days it seems that the Cincinnati Walk is generating lots of interest. The walk will assemble on Florida Ave at Hanfield Street in Northside.

There are a couple of items which you should be aware of if you attend. First the walk must not in any way disrupt traffic or pedestrians since there is no Parade Permit for this event. Secondly Mr. Ferrier has asked that no 'Extreme' shirts or slogans be worn. We will allow the antis to show their true extremist colors while maintaining our professionalism. Third, come with a thick skin and the ability to politely ignore any comments or other actions by the Criminal Protection Supporters who will certainly try to provoke us.

SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!!!!

If you wish to attend and show support without firearms, that would help also. Perhaps a few persons with the CCW look vest and signage stating that criminals won't know who is protected if CCW passes will help.

I just spoke to Mr. Ferrier. He has asked that there be NO "message" t-shirts or the like. Not even "I'm the NRA."

Expect parking to be scarce. You may need to walk a few blocks.

Other Ohio cities are likely to organize similar events later because they couldn't get it together in time for this Sunday.

This is a great idea, too bad it is such short notice and at the other end of the State (I'm in Cleveland).

Perhaps we should do this more often, and in Columbus (a three hour drive for any Ohioian).

If there is anyone who is willing to do this in Cleveland, let me/us know.

Good Luck and stay safe!
