Nice Rigs there Big Blue 94 ! I see the Super Blackhawk hammer on that purty Blackhawk Stainless on top ! I am fitting one now to my old 1980 converted to .44 special Custom Black Hawk along with a #5 Power Custom base pin and latch and a set of Wilson Combat springs. Maybe I'll get it polished out like yours. Who did the polishing ?

I am not sure who did the work. It came from Shoemake's Trading Post near Camdenton, MO, about 25 years ago. Notice the adjustable rear sight too. I think i have a piece of paper listing its specs somewhere. It was customized in the 80s iirc. It is a sweet shooter for sure.

I had a SBH 7 1/2" for 30 years. Took several deer and hogs with it.
Got into CAS. Sold the SBH and bought a 4.62" Blackhawk .357. Soon after, 5 1/2" Vaquero .357.

Preferred the 4.62" and adjustable sights, so I traded the Vaquero for an Old Model Blackhawk .41 Mag 4.62"

At a gun show, stumbled across 4.62" SBH.

Came across a 4.62" Vaquero dual cylinder .45
Wanted the BH, but them Vaquero will do, until I find a BH. Then the Vaquero will be gone.

I do have a 7 1/2" BH. It is in .30 Carbine. The only barrel length ever made in that caliber. I don't see ever changing it.

My 2 Single Sixes are a 5 1/2" and a 6 1/2". I much prefer the 5 1/2" over the 6 1/2". But 4.62" would be better. The fly in the ointment, youngest grandson has laid claim to the 5 1/2" and his brother, the 6 1/2". They use them in CAS, also.

I had a 4 5/8 in 41 Magnum, liked it, but rarely took it out. I don't woods walk or open carry, so my 6 1/2" Flat Top was the better range shooter for me. I sold the gun (4 5/8) to turn over the money, but of course I would have preferred to keep it.

20220225_124312.jpg I am down to one Blackhawk currently. A 1982 .45 Convertible. It was two toned by a previous owner and I like it. It's my "desert island" Blackhawk. Going to send him off soon for some custom work. I have very slightly preferred Vaqueros in the past and have a brand new .45 on layaway.

I have a 4 5/8" Blackhawk in 44 special but don’t shoot it much because the grip is too small to get my pinky on it. I’ve looked but been unable to find a larger aftermarket grip. Is there such a thing? I just can’t get used to tucking my pinky underneath the grip.

Have you checked out Texas Grips? I havent tried them yet, but plan on it soon. Have seen good reports.

Here is my .44 special Horvath conversation Ruger I showed before in it's final state after a Power Custom , cylinder bolt stop and center pin fitted and a factory Stainless Super Blackhawk Hammer. The leather pictured is a Simply Rugged holster I had custom made by Rob Leahy. The holster has great tension and a perfect smooth and fast release.I decided to use a matching simply rugged chesty puller holster system but holster can stand alone for my SASS belts. I had it built with a floating welt and three rear snaps to go thru a buscaderobelt or over up to 2 1/2" belts IMG_20220319_133814514.jpg IMG_20220319_133405092_HDR.jpg

It took me three afternoons of fiddling and filing with small diamond hones to fit the hammer , the pin and especially the cylinder boltstop ! Put a couple new springs in the small detented stuff I had to get quick from Numrich .
