I'm sorry, I don't usually "double-reply" like this, but I couldn't let this pass.
Thr flip side of that story is that the "activist" was a canvasser who had door-to-door campaigned for a number of Texas (r) Reps. Successfully, too, until he got to the Speaker's neighborhood, said Speaker having insisted on DPS protection. And it was that worthy who then claimed the canvasser was "harassing" home owners.
Let's see what McNutt said:

If politicians like Speaker Dennis Bonnen think they can show up at the doorsteps of Second Amendment supporters and make promises to earn votes in the election season, they shouldn’t be surprised when we show up in their neighborhoods to insist they simply keep their promises in the legislative session,”

Maybe he just wanted to talk/canvas...

Well, let's see what McNutt did:

McNutt made visits to the homes of legislators who lived hundreds of miles from Austin. This was done while the legislature was in session and the legislators were in Austin--in other words, at a time when there was EVERY reasonable expectation that the legislators would NOT be at home. So why does a person go to a legislator's house, knowing that the legislator isn't home but their family will be? What kind of "canvassing" is that?

How would you feel if someone showed up at your house at a time they knew you were likely to be out of town to "insist" to your family that you comply with his wishes?

Stickland, author of the Constitutional Carry bill called McNutt's actions "some of the most concerning behavior I have witnessed in my time as a legislator."

"Stickland said he was “saddened by the act of a few individuals that have stolen the conversation about legislation that I deeply care about. … There is a right way and a wrong way to influence the legislative process. … It is never okay to target their homes or personal businesses..."

McNutt is NOT someone we need to be defending. He is hurting our cause, and he is engaging in completely unacceptable behavior even if it's not actually illegal.

I dont think he needed to do what he did, although that opinion is less about firearms and more about simple decent behavior. The bill could have been advanced through other means.
