Looking to see if anybody know the size scope rings need for a Leupold scope.

Tried looking online but did not seem to find what I was looking for .

Model is Vari-X 2x7 R.F special .

Putting it on remmington 5mm and the other one I have, the scope used one inch rings which the Leupold rimfire worked perfect .

The tube diameter on my Leupold 2x7 Rimfire I bought new in the mid eighties is 1.000" diameter. I just checked it with calipers.

Thanks for the info guys , appreciate it .

Slamrife love that older ad for the scope.

$77.50 for scope and mount how things have changed.

Couple of thos guns caught my eye , cant belive the price on them .

My Dad tells me how much he used to pay for stuff , eye opening for sure .

$77.50 in 1950 is equivalent to $998 today. Scopes have never been cheaper or better quality than they are today.

The math does make sense as you suggested .

Relatives have told me what they used to make when they were young .

I worked with a guy in the 80's that had an FFL... pretty much anybody could get one if you filled out the paperwork and didn't have a record... we used to get Mausers for $25 and then convert them. I've got a .308 "carbine" I made, a 30-06, and .270 as well as an 8mm I kept "as is"... We'd order stocks and sporter barrels, to eliminate the "Steps" in the Mausers. Then get aluminum floor plates that opened with a button so you could empty the magazine without running them through the bolt, or using a bullet to depress the underside button to remove the floor plate. Great shooters that worked great. I even splurged for the $40 for some back then that had matching serial numbers...we'd drill and tap them for scopes, and bend the bolts down... Great fun at reasonable prices back then... Plentiful ammo at cheap prices too! I miss Ronald Reagan....
