It isn't much....but it's almost always on me. (Unless I have my Hellcat)

There needs to be an “it depends” option.

Honestly, I’ve been lax about carrying over the summer - mostly because I had put on weight and it was uncomfortable. I’ve now lost 25 lbs - and the events in Maine reminded me that I need to get back in the habit. Now that the gun isn’t digging into my gut, I am carrying regularly again.

The China-flu changed the way I conducted my daily life because of the shut downs. I used to run errands almost daily (post office, grocery store, hardware store, etc.), but now only two days a week am I out and about.

Otherwise I’m at my office or headed to court. Revolver stays in the truck when I go into the courthouse (obviously), but I sometimes slip it into my pocket or briefcase when I head into the office. I don’t do domestic work anymore so I’m not as sensitive to office traffic these days. Rarely on errands do I slip it on.

My activities of daily living and the areas I frequent are not crime ridden or necessarily targets for would-be jihadists so the revolver stays in the truck 99% of the time.

I live in a rural area adjacent to a small city with a relatively low crime rate. Although rare, there have been drive by shootings and car jackings. I am seldom in town after dark and avoid stupid places with stupid people at stupid times. I carry all the time everywhere I can and occasionally in some places were signs say I'm not supposed to. Post office and government buildings, I lock my EDC in the gun safe cabled to the seat frame.

My dad's motto was "better to have it and not need than need it not have it." I want to avoid the possibility of thinking "Damn, I wish I had my gun."

I carry just about as much as I can. I (mostly) live in a small town with a fairly low crime rate, and only go back to "the city" on the weekends. Still, the methamphetamine problem here is not insignificant, and a lot of theft and (mostly minor) violence go with it. And since I'm a criminal defense attorney, I come into contact with the criminal element quite a bit, both the accused and the victims. There are still places that I: (a) have to go; where (b) I can't carry. Jail, courthouse, etc.

I don't normally carry on my person when I'm doing my work... simply because of what I do (pool route) and how I have to dress... but I have it in the console. If I go in anywhere, I simply stick it in my waistband... I carry it in a Galco IWB clip holster, which makes easy work of it. Otherwise... I'm strapped anywhere I go.

Question ? When would you pull your gun when confronted by an unarmed person that looks a little sketchy and is approaching you ? When would you shoot an unarmed person ? I think everyone that carry’s needs to ask themselves that question and know the answer . The answer is probably different depending on the state that you live in .

Anyone who carries a gun and doesn't have a basic understanding of the general rules of when force or deadly force is justified in self-defense is playing with fire. These two questions should be very easy for anyone who carries to answer. They are good topics for discussion in the Legal or Strategies & Tactics subforums of THR.

I carry when outside my residence. I don’t always carry around the house but have guns “around at the ready”..

I work on federal property and cannot carry. I could apply for a permit to keep it in the truck but haven’t yet…

When we go out, I’m carrying unless we plan to go to one of the local military bases…then I don’t. Those trips are less frequent…

What carry method do you use when bathing and when you're in bed?
I keep mine in its holster on the belt in my pants, at night, its on a chair by the bed, within arms reach, and I take my clothes into the bathroom with me in the morning, and get dressed in the light** in there after my shower, so its within arms reach in there too. So effectively, Im never really "unarmed".

** Learned a long time ago its best to get dressed in the light at 0400 so you dont put your long johns on backwards getting dressed in the dark, and come to regret it in the porta-potty a couple of hours later after a couple of cups of coffee dressed for 20° and come to find the hole ain't where its supposed to be and your back teeth are floating. :)

I was more curious about Bushmaster's statement about carrying 24/7. Seems as if that'd be essentially impossible. A person could have a gun near them 24/7, but I don't see how they could carry it 24/7.

I consider it the same way he does. But youre right, the reality is, you arent "wearing" it 24/7.

The difference I see here is, the gun is literally within reach and still basically with me, for the short while Im not wearing it, as opposed to me leaving it around the house somewhere and saying its close by. I see those as two different things.

Exact same situation I’m in. I spend the majority of my time in court and therefore my revolver stays in the truck.

Running errands, shopping, restaurant, trip to the store, walk around the neighborhood, are you usually carrying?
Yes. Sort of I suppose. I got confused. :D
"Running errands, shopping, restaurant, trip to the store" is not a "typical" day for me. We live 25 miles from town, and we're usually at home on a "typical" day.
However, yes I DO carry whenever I'm outside working around the place, or when I go on my daily exercise hike. And we're about to head for town to have lunch with our oldest daughter. I (and my wife) will be carrying at the Chinese restaurant we're going to, then at the grocery store we'll be shopping at after lunch, then at the credit union we'll stop at before we leave town.
When we get home though, my wife will probably put her gun away, and I'll probably switch to my little Taurus .32 H&R (because it's lighter) before I head out on my exercise hike. BTW, I'm not wearing it, but my Glock G19 is within arms reach right now. :)
