Back before the 94 ban how much opposition did the NRA put up. It seems that they are ready to fight this possible one pretty hard but I have nothing to compare it to.

I'm not sure where your headed with this, but I will say that YES the NRA put up a fight in 1994 , and NO , I don't see that the details makes much difference these 18 years later .

In other words, if this is trying to lead into a bashing - I'm not a participant.

I would say that ALL of the pro-2A organizations did what they could, but the situation was pretty much like it is now. The POL's in CONgress were more worried about thier image in the media, than doing what was right.

*I* felt that the NRA put up a half-hearted fight in '94...

I think there were two reasons- most of the NRA rank and file at the time where Fudds, and as long as it was about EBRs, and not their hunting rifles, they were onboard with the AWB.

Also, at the time, I kinda had the impression that they didn't think it would pass.

Fudds in '94?

Maybe in '68, or the period from the killing of JFK in '63 to passage of the '68 law, but I don't think that's really true in the '90s.

There is a lot of documentation on line about how the various laws were passed and who said what and when. Remember, the NRA has never had a vote in Congress. Influence, yes; vote, no.

One for the old guys? I thought you meant the law from the '30s. :banghead:

We actually fought quite hard. I was not the only person who closed his business to concentrate on the fight. Others took time off their jobs and two I know of quit their jobs.

Frankly, a LOT of law abiding gun owners, myself included, feel the NRA sold them out but saved domestic manufacturing with the 94 AWB
I am still a member and also carry a bitter taste in my mouth from that time.
