So I WAS going to go and buy that 686 no dash I mentioned in my other thread, but I stumbled upon this beauty instead today:

S&W Model 66 no dash. 2.5"

I was really looking for a carry piece, I mean really I had no use for another 4"-6" 686 since I already have a 6" and this 66 fit the bill.

Tight lockup, clean chambers and bore and I love it, can't wait to carry it.

Pictures don't do it justice really now that it's cleaned up. Only has one minor blemish.
Sorry about the pic quality these were taken on my cell phone.

Had a smile on my face all day.

I know!!!!

I was happy to find the 66 but then in the back of my mind 2 little devils named Smith and Wesson were showing me mental pics of the 686. It was horrible.

I will go back to the store when I get paid and hope the 686 is still there.

Sweet. Buy them both. If you think you will stumble onto those two revolvers all the time, you are sadly mistaken. Matter of fact, with the luck you are having, you might go to the dog track or buy a lotto ticket. (Just kidding) :)

2.5" 66s are extremely easy to carry. A good stiff gunbelt and a kydex or leather holster make it a snap.

My preferred IWB leather holsters are the FIST #20 and Lobo Gunleather IWB, both with the sweat shield option added.

Here's my 66-1. Picked it up a year or two ago at a gun show in VA. Even with shipping and FFL fee, it was still a lot cheaper than 2.5" Model 66s in my home state.

It's not loose but it is a little torn up. Nice grips!! I want to get some darker wooden ones for mine.

I took it to the range and what a tack driver. Was "exciting" with 158gr .357 haha.

The double action pull seemed a little gummy so when I got home I took the whole thing apart, cleaned and lubed it. It was VERY dirty. The cylinder and cylinder guide/sleeve were so dirty I dont think anyone had cleaner her up in 40 years. Got to get where the sun don't shine too ya know? Trigger pull is nice now but a little heavy so I ordered the Wolff spring kit for her.

:)

Is the red ramp insert loose? I just picked up a no dash with aftermarket grips and the red ramp insert is loose... Have not cleaned it up yet.

I almost bought that exact gun a few weeks ago. It was listed on a classifieds, maybe this one, I can't remember. I recognize it by the grips.

Nice gun...I wish I would have bought a pile of them back when PD's were trading them and and they were selling for about 180 bucks.

Nice toy. :)

Guillermo:
Have you considered referring to She who Must Be Obeyed as The Last Wife instead of the Current Wife. Tempting fate and all that...

nope...I haven't

but if this one wears out her welcome I will replace her with the "current girlfriend"

I just hope if this happens she has as good of taste in guns

Sweet! I've had my eye out for a 2.5-inch 66 in good shape at a reasonable price. I want something a bit lighter to supplement my heavier 4-inch 686.

I'll bet!!

I ordered a Wolff spring kit for it so im hoping it will lighten the DA pull a little, it's already extremely smooth.
