Open carry for non resident in Alabama

I was wondering if anyone knows the law for non residents visiting Alabama whether they can openly carry a pistol if they do not have a permit yet from their home state

Technically it's legal, but depending on which area you're in you may be harassed by law enforcement. As a general rule, the more rural the area the more likely you will be ok. From what I've heard, most of Jefferson County is not friendly to OC and you'll very likely be stopped by LEOs.

Currently any carry inside a vehicle (including open carry) requires a CCW permit.

A bill recently passed codifies the legality of OC, but it doesn't go into effect until August IIRC. It doesn't really change the fact that OC is legal, but it spells it out in the code.
