I'm a Redfield/Leupold/Burris fan, most of my rifles have them with the exception of my .223 bolt gun, I have a Nikon on that.

I had 3 Hawke 4-12x50 scopes that I bought at a close out when a local outdoor outfitter closed up. I never used them until recently I needed a scope on my newly acquired Gunsight Scout to do some load work ups for my hand loads for that rifle.

To my amazement, I shot my first 5 shot/one hole group with that rifle/scope. I thought it was a fluke so I did it again!

So I know this scope is dead on and holds zero, is very clear and easy to adjust.

I just wonder if the other two will do as well. I have a 7mm-08 that needs a more powerful scope than the 3-9x40 thats on it

Opinions on the Hawke scopes? These three scopes are at least 5 years old but were still new in the box

i hunt with a crossbow and was looking for a good scope and what i read on several bow hunting forums was hawke was the winner for the crossbow guys. i would say if guys that use these things in all sorts of weather, light, etc love them they should be okay. i actually went with a Nikon cause i don't like trying new things.

I bought an Endurance 2-7 with the 30-30 reticle to go on a Marlin 336 30-30. This was three years ago. I liked the idea of an illuminated reticle at that price point. The scope it was to replace was a Fullfield II 2-7. To my eyes the Fullfield glass was brighter and significantly better in low light so I sold the Hawke.
Six months later I replaced the Burris with a VX-3 1.75-6.

Everyone's eyes are different. I read on another thread where you bought an Elite 4200 and did not care for it. I've had one for around six years and really like it. Neither of us is wrong, our eyes are just different.

I just got a Hawke vantage 6-24 that came with and anshutz I just bought used. Was only out with it once but the scope seemed decent. Was more focused on evaluating and testing the rifle though so will focus more on the scope next time. Seemed pretty clear and bright though and was able to get a couple groups under .3 inches at 50 yards with it so initial impressions are good.

I own one, a Nite Eyes II or some such, and it was a clearance deal which made it attractive at the time (2009 or so. More or less ok everything but nothing I ever wrote home about. The dealer told me they are the European equivalent of Bushnell with a wide market segment. Still have the scope, still use it from time to time.

Hawke's are tough scopes and are good for hard recoiling guns like springer air rifles.

I've got a Hawke 5-30x50 scope which I bought thinking it might get me where I want to be for $700+. It's a nice scope but I just can't warm up to it. The clarity is good but there's a very narrow window, for me, where it all comes together. Some, or all of that, could be my eyes; we are all built a bit different.

When it comes down to where the rubber meets the road, I'd rather spend a bit more and get a Sightron SIII, those just work better for me.

Hawke scopes are huge in the airgun world. I am talking about serious airgun shooters; not an airgun from Walmart. I bought a new airgun from an airgun dealer, they recommended a Hawke scope to me. I was skeptical since I had never heard of them before but took his advice. After I got it, I realized that pretty much everybody that shoots airguns where I do is using a Hawke scope and I have been to a couple field target competitions and Hawke scopes were in the majority including some sponsered shooters. A couple guys I shoot with liked their Hawke scopes well enough that they were talking about buying more of them for various firearms. Based on that, I would say they are a good quality scope. Mine seems good. It tracks well. Seems optically clear. I have no complaints.
I don't know if I am a good enough judge of scopes to offer my opinion. I am the type of guy that doesn't pick my equipment apart. In fact, as long as my equipment isn't giving me any trouble, I am oblivious to it. I am far more into actual shooting than I am discussing gear. FWIW: I shoot my Hawke scope three days a week year round and shoot maybe 75 shots each time.
