In my opinion, the walther p99 has to be one of the most comfy guns I have ever held, but I have not had the opportunity to shoot one. I'm wary of guns without an external hammer (yes, I know there is no logical reasoning behind that) but this pistol has caught my eye. What are your overall impressions of it, and how is the trigger?

i think they are awesom and would love to have one and plan too when i return to the states. they are mean looking, which i like they look like they are gonna kick your butt just sitting there on the table.
i have experience with the qa trigger and i was impressed, they are accurate, well made, as well they fill good in the hand.

I have one of the first off the assembly line, date code "KK", serial number, 018XXX.
It's one of the few full size guns that fit my hand.
It had been sitting in the safe, but, lately, I've taken it out and have gotten reacquainted with it. I think I'm going to carry it more. I took it out to the range, Saturday. It still shoots better than my middle aged bifocaled eyes will allow!!

I have a WALTHER P-99 in 9m.m. and I really like it. In fact it is usually my carry gun when off duty.
The grip is fantastic. No other word for it. The trigger is fine and mine has been 100% reliable. I found that these factors allow me to shoot it as well as a heavier metal framed gun.
I read that some of the early guns had trouble with their magazines. So far, I have not had any.
By way of comparison. I have carried the BERETTA 92 & 96, GLOCK 17 & 19, H&K P2000 and SIG 226 on duty. I rate the WALTHER as equal to any of them.

I love my P99. It is my main carry weapon. It is as reliable as anything and pretty accurate and easy to shoot.
Mine is the original SA/DA trigger. It has a little bit of take-up in single action mode. Not exactly glass-rod smooth, but very good. Double action is smooth, no complaints. I've heard the newer Anti-stress trigger is nice.

Don't have a P99 but I have 2 SW 99s, in .40/.45 and they are my favorite shooters. Very accurate and comfortable in the hand and to shoot. Once I build the bankroll up a bit, I intend to add a 9mm to the stable...

I used to own a P99, with 012XXX serial number. I must admit that it is one of the most comfortable double stack autos.
On the other hand, it has one of the longest barrel and sight radius compared to its size.lt also has a very usefull AS trigger option which offers a decocker attached, shortly reseting single action trigger.
The package offers different sizes of grip inserts and front sights, with a click adjustable for windage rear sight, to adopt the pistol for individual demands.
The only feature you may find annoying with this pistol is the unconventional magazine release button, but when you get used to it, it very useful.

The unique feature of the P99 AS is the decocker. The other striker fired pistols do not have this ability. For those who think of the heavier DA first pull on a DA/SA pistol as a safety feature this is a good reason to buy the Walther over the Glock or M&P.

To summarize them quickly, the P99/SW99 is everything the expensive H&K P30 is (and everything it wants to be) at a much cheaper price. Seriously, H&K tried to give their gun a more ergonomic grip, but it falls short of the P99 IMO. I believe the P99 is a bit slimmer, the decocking button is larger and easier to use than the H&K's, and that's about all I can think of at the moment. I'm hoping to get another P99 for a carry gun before too long.

As for the P99 - it is my fav handgun of all time. I've given up on 1911s after getting my P99. I constantly outshot my $1200 1911. I have a shooting friend who had the same problem with his P99 A/S and his Wilson 1911. He ended up getting rid of the Wilson.
The SA pull on the P99 A/S in 9mm is fantastic.
I've gotten 16 people to buy P99s in the past year or so. 3 in person - the rest online. Most bought them w/o even trying them - just hearing my constant droning about how good the gun is!

That happens to be the feature I like most about the pistol.
I have small hands and short thumbs. On most pistols, I cannot reach the mag release without unlocking my wrist. In fact, I've given serious thought to trading my G26 for a P99c. The only thing that stops me is I have a LOT of money invested in the gun with custom sights, race parts, and mags.

Most P99 owners seem to prefer the AS trigger, which is similar to DA/SA with the addition of a third forward SA position when the pistol is first loaded. This has a very light trigger pull until you reach the normal SA position.
The SA trigger is very light and crisp with a short reset. DA is not too bad either. Also, the P99 trigger smooths out very nicely after a couple of hundred rounds.
The QA trigger is a pre-cocked striker set up with a constant pull for every shot, like a Glock. I have no experience with this system.

No brainer, AS version is the way to go to get the full potential from the P99.

I have a p99 and p99c, they're my favorite handguns.
Actually it has a decocker, it isn't part of the standard operating modes of the gun though, its just used so you can take down the pistol without pulling the trigger.
If you like sig's and tda guns like s&w's, get the AS. If you like glocks and the xd, get the QA.

I have a P99-AS. It is, without a doubt, one of the most ergonomic pistols I've ever shot. I love mine.
I have only one beef - the SA trigger. To me, the pull is just a smidge too long, especially compared to my 1911. If I could get smith to shorted that break, it would be darn-near poyfect.

I just picked up a P99 AS 9mm and shot it for the first time yesterday. I ran 200 trouble-free rounds of WWB through it and must say, the pistol shot like a dream. The P99 is a keeper!

Not long after I purchased my P99 I was curious about the accuracy. So I set up this target, indoors at 20 feet, and fired 60 rounds, standing, weaver stance, with a slow 6 o'clock aim, SA and got this. I'm keeping my Walther.
