For 600 - 1000 yard shooting.

Savage 10FP .308 with drop in B&C Duramaxx stock

Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44mm with Target Knobs and Z-plex

TPS, Warne Maxima or Badger 20 MOA Base and 1 inch rings.

Black Hills 175gr Ammunition.

Any opinions and or recommendations?

Thanks.

My underqualified opinion: nice rifle, nice glass! People have started with much less...

Very nice selction. Should do you just fine. Does the rifle have the AccuTrigger? In either case, you'll probably want to replace it eventually.

Throw on a Harris bipod and you should be good to go.

Preference, but you might want to consider an optic with mildots, just to help with ranging.

Excellent choices except for the injection molded plastic stock. It probably isn't much better than the Savage factory injection molded plastic stock. Check out a Hogue overmolded stock, Bell & Carlson Medalist stock or stockadegunstocks.com stocks all with the aluminum bedding blocks. Even the Savage BVSS laminated wood stock is better than an injection molded plastic stock.

I have heard good things about the Duramaxx and I am on a budget but if it is indeed no better than the factory 10FP stock......

That's a beginner set-up?! Lordy sakes I know shootists who have lesser rigs after 30 years active shooting. That would be wonderful. If you have not already purchased it, I strongly suggest reading up on the .260 Rem and the 6.5 X 284.

I believe Savage JUST brought the latter out. Some of the professional writers tested it and reported that it, factory-stock, achieved consistent .5" groups at 500 yards with factory ammunition. Note, not .5 MOA, .5"!!!! As in one-half inch groups at 500 yards. :what:

There are 10FPs being made 6.5 ?

Is ammo more expensive than .308?

I don't see 6.5 on Savage's site.

The rifle on the front page of the stockade site makes me want to order "PERISCOPE DOWN! DIVE DIVE DIVE!". Is there a good reason for a scope to sit that high or is that just John Kerry's benchrest rifle?
