I've been a member a while, I just read more than post. I have the chance to get a P99 at a good price. Anyone have one? Any opinions? Anyone concealed carry one of these?

I bought a P99AS a few years back, it has a great trigger and everybody that shoots it really likes it. I liked it so much I bought a second as a back up. I have never carried mine, I carry a HK P7, but I have thought about getting one of the compact P99AS to carry i just haven't done it.

Now, I like the Anti Stress version, the non AS version does not have the great trigger pull.

The P99 is generally a well regarded hand gun. I had one in passing years ago and it was fine. I sold it to finance other things I was more interested with at the time.

It's not super popular, so holsters are going to be less common for it then some other guns, but it's popular enough there should be a decent choices, just be aware a P99 holster probably isn't an "in Stock" item at your local gun store.

Additionally there are several generations, and a couple variants of the P99. Exactly which one you are looking at will inform your choice. Like ozarkhillbilly I much preferred the AS trigger set up.

This one has the decock feature, is that the AS version? What does it compare in size too? I was told it compares to a G19.

The decocker should signify AS. It should also be written on the side of the gun IIRC.

Just going by published dimensions a P99 is a tic shorter and thinner than a G19, but has a little more height. They are, however, close enough that the "feel" of the size is going to be pretty subjective. My P99 "felt" skinny in my hand because of it's pretty good ergos, and G19's "feel" blocky to me. but that's just me, others have different experiences.

Mine is a standard 99 with the olive drab frame.
German made/Interarms import before S&W got involved.

I will sometimes, mainly in the winter, carry it in a Ted Blocker OWB pancake hip holster.
+1 dogmush, the 99 feels slimmer to both carry and shoot than my 17 longslide.

I really would vote for you to get it if you want it after handling it.
I would not sell or trade mine.

The guy is selling for 300.00 2 mags and box. I don't think I can get hurt on it. The pics look good and I am meeting him tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going g to buy it unless it's junk.

My wife EDC's a P99C with the Anti Stress trigger. Great shooting little pistol. If I found a P99 in good shape for $300 it wouldn't last two minutes.

P99AS was my first handgun and I will never sell it. Bunch of others have come and gone but the P99 has always gone back in my holster at some point after I have sold off others.

Specifically mine shoots very accurately with 165gr ammo vs 180 in the .40 flavor. I do plan on getting the same firearm in 9mm and the 45 PPQ. If you have a chance to get a P99 at a good price, stop posting here and go get it. Thank us later.

Glad to hear they are good, I have meet set for tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes .

Another big thumbs-up for them here ! At $300 you're making out like a bandit !! I don't have the spare cash for any new toys right now, and I would STILL go get it if I found one at $300 ! ;)

I agree, $300 for p99 in decent shape is an absolute steal. I'm already pass my gun budget for the year with my 2 AR builds and a p320 and I would still purchase that p99 for $300, even if it put me in the hole or the wife put me on the couch lol. The p99 is legendary status if you ask me and one of the best 9mm handguns made

In a heartbeat, buy it.

And if you don't, the line can start here if you want to share the seller's name...or give him mine. Even with shipping, FFL and WA state "tax" it's a good deal.

I've got the S&W SW990L and find it a fine pistol....has the Walther frame, mag. etc. and S&W barrel and slide.

Well I think he is backing out, I got an email saying he gate called in to work and I haven't had a reply to a couple e mails. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

It's possible, I guess I should have looked at it first and asked about it later!

I picked up a P99AS back in January and have been very happy with mine. It carries pretty easily. I'd say it falls in a bit of middle ground between a Glock 17 and Glock 19. the length of the top end is about the same as the 19, but it's definitely a tiny bit longer in the grip. That said, the ergonomics of the gun are out of this world. The trigger is incredible, even in DA. It's a very smooth, predictable trigger. The SA trigger pull is also very smooth and light. I would highly recommend picking one of these up if you have the chance. The biggest faults I have with this gun are (1) the seeming lack of readily available accessories (i.e. holsters) and (2) the polymer sights. They do the job just fine, but if you use a kydex holster, it will do a number on the front sight. I'd like to get a front night sight from Mepro or Trijicon, but I'm having trouble finding one that's the height that I like, that being the factory "4" front sight which IIRC is .180".

That's a very good price if it is a P99AS, or first-gen P99 with the AS trigger (which will not say P99AS on the slide). Also 9mm P99s are much more desirable to .40SW models to most folks. The .40SW variants are a bit snappy, compared to other service-size polymer pistols.

The P99QA model is still good, but is missing the magic of the P99AS trigger. It basically has a Glock trigger, but at about 8.5 lbs.

I own a P99AS, and frankly, it has the best striker-fired trigger of any pistol I've ever fired. The single-action trigger feel is superior to that of the much-vaunted PPQ, VP9, or P320.

It has also been easily the most reliable pistol I've ever owned - and that includes a few Glocks. The P99 has a reputation for reliably eating just about any 9mm ammo. Mine P99AS has served as my primary bedside/HD pistol for quite a few years now, and despite buying a number of over service-sized pistols over the years, I just can't seem to replace it in that role. It's just been too reliable.
