New/used 300 BO 10” upper, going on an AR pistol with a buffer tube, thinking on working it into a deer gun for the shotgun/pistol zone in MN.
Primary purpose is short range, less than 100 yards, and probably more like under 60.

Possible use of a can, but likely still shooting supersonic Barnes ammo.

Considering a Primary Arms 1-6 SFP scope. Any thoughts or suggestions based on my need?

Thank you all

I think you'd be fine with any LPVO, I wouldnt waste the money on anything more than 6X on top for a 300 BO.
My 10.5' SBR has a 1-5X Crimson Trace 3 series.
FFP bs SFP is personal choice both have their disadvantages a good reticle should compensate for the disadvantage though.

I don't love LPVO's and would just opt for a simple lighter red dot.

Bushnell TRS-26, Leupold RDS, Sig Romeo etc

Much lighter, and compact. Will be more than enough even at your max range of 100yrds.

My short 300 BO guns are nearly exclusively subsonic guns for me.

My 9-inch gun has a Vortex 3X Spitfire (Gen1) prism. I like the fixed power prism with it illuminated reticle.

My 5-inch gun I went with a Vortex Spark AR red dot. I fell into a deal for a 3X magnifier and that works great with the Spark.

I have the same one mounted on my AR that I use for home defense, it is a great optic, with the green or red illumination and the reticles are etched, which you can use in daylight without illumination. I too would recommend this one for the OP.

Almost all of the deer I have taken since I moved back to Fl were less than 100 yards, and usually less than 50. I have a 3-9x scope dialed all the way down that I use most of the time. I routinely used a 4X ACOG in afg. to engage targets out to 400 yards. If I was using a gun for applications of 100 and less, I would be fine with 4X. Enough magnification to get a good tight sight picture, count antler points in timber, etc.

I had the Burris 3x prism and really like the concept but it had really short eye relief. I think the Vortex has more according to reviews. If so the Vortex would work very well.

It does, I replaced the Burris 3x prism with the Vortex one and have the Burris to my brother.

Burris 3x is really good value. Been running it for a while, but switched to Sig Romeo setup(probably my favorite ever for sub 100y)

I had the Burris as well. I liked it well enough, but am currently much happier with one of the PrimaryArms Micro3x prisms. Really think it's a winner.

Usually, for 100 and less, I'd say go with a red dot with a 2 moa dot or smaller. If you just have to have magnification, something in the 3x or 4x range will do nicely.

I'm a big fan of the Steiner P4xi with the p3tr reticle. The little primary arms 3x microprism is also nice. For your purposes, I'd go with the latter. No sense in adding the weight if you don't need to. I run a 4x acog on my 300 and in rifle.
