The petition was closed for a reason. The only purpose of the petition is to get an official response. Get the WH to notice it, and maybe respond. That's it. The polls list a "goal" of 25,000. At 31,000 signitures, with a response, from the VP COS... it's done. You did it.

Sorry Ms Dragon, I found this really humorous. I can not believe that anyone who knows the man would not see this kind of thing coming. They were just waiting for the proper moment. We've arrived at that moment.

As far as a lot of this "talk" going on here.... I will remain silent. I hope our present system continues to work.

Well between the candidates it was a choice between a sleazy lying used car salesman or Obama.

A choice between cancer or dementia.

Who knows what Mittens the spineless flip flopper would have done in this case.

The only candidate who stood a chance against Obama and wouldn't have had a bar of this gun ban nonsense would have been Ron Paul, as I said earlier.

The man has now retired.
The only man who had the vision and the damned backbone to turn your country around by adhering to the very principals your nation was founded on.
 
this is the the time to stop bickering about whom voted for whom, it is time to stand tall and show that not just us gun owners have something to lose, but all have something to lose, lets hope that this can be done peacefully, and without a call to arms, we cannot compromise or become divided in our cause, we must contact our elected reps, and if that doesn't prove to be practical, then we must peacefully protest, because we cannot let those whom wish to infringe our RKBA to be proven correct on the assumption that we are "violent crazed gun nuts".

The official response amounts to "We don't need to hear from any more of you on this issue.". That may be true since the issue is already in front of the Whitehouse, but isn't it important for the Executive to see how many people independently oppose any approval of an AWB?

I don't think they care how many oppose their agenda. It won't change their minds . Your opinion is only relevant if it matches theirs.

Perhaps they closed it because it had reached its goal - but from the response it's pretty clear it didn't mean much to them. I'm not surprised.

Umm...yes it was responded to...in the media even.

I think it is pretty CLEAR that Obama has his agenda and doesn't care how many are against his agenda.

I understand quite well. I do tech support and I can tell you that the mealy-mouthed "don't start another petition" instruction is pure horse****. If I told my boss that duplicate tech support questions were making it hard to answer the original question, he'd tell me to shut up and do my job.

This makes me sick to my stomach. The economy, the murder of the 2nd amendment, and seeing all of my fellow Americans AFRAID of what their own government might do to them. I thought governments were supposed to fear their citizens, not citizens are supposed to fear their governments. They have shown that your voice means nothing. I really am very sad to see this going on. What happened to our great nation?
 
This is the so called 'compromise' that Obama talks about. He gets everything he wants and you get nothing you want.

I hope the House doesn't pass a single law that guy wants. That would be compromise.

We had to deal with much the same attitude in 1774, ya know. Can't do nothing about King George, watch what you say, don't rock the boat.

The rest of us have serious work to do, preaching apathy and non resistance is exactly what the made the Nazi's so successful. If things haven't reached a point of intolerance, then I might suggest that living in a despotic monarchy will likely suit well.

Without getting too far into speculation, I don't really see confiscation happening. There are two other branches in government, right? The gun grab during Katrina got stopped in days. If you think they will go farther than that, then the conversation turns to what risk they are willing to accept if their are unintended consequences.

Studies have shown that politicians are well aware they will not get support from LEO's or the military to any great extent. Let's leave it at that - it would be a last chance gamble, and it's not good. When I swore an oath (three times) to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic, it was followed up within weeks with a long lesson on what is considered an illegal order. 20 million prior service soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines have a pretty good understanding of it.

What you are hearing is political rhetoric, and it's a good example of just how much our elected representatives are willing to trash talk in the current Washington climate. Let your representative know that in clear, impartial terms.

We really should be sending them letters, emails, and filling their inboxes with this.
