i just got my first iwb holster with a metal clip, its a pro carry hd from the holster store. all my others have had only plastic clips like the sof tuck. i can't figure which way this should go as the clip is extemely stout. it's easier to clip my pants but then the clip mars the side of my belt. i can get it over the belt but it's a pain to do so and then it mars the outside of my belt. how do ya'll wear yours?, and will the clip get easier?. thanks

High Noon uses a robust metal clip for their IWB holsters. Their FAQ #113 may be helpful for putting the holster on

Of course, you could also thread it on the belt as if it were a solid loop. The hook should go over the belt. Scuffing on the belt would most likely be expected. There is an advantage in this situation for the nylon Wilderness belts.

Typically a J-hook (different terminology from different makers may cause confusion) will go over the pants and under the belt, while the typical over-hook or reverse J-hook will go over the belt.

A little bit more information would be helpful. Most gun belts are designed to not only hold the weight of a firearm with extra ammo, but hold up to the attachment devices used for said holster. What kind of belt are you using?

In any case, clips like on the pro carry hd are supposed to go over the belt and not just the pants. There is only one kind of clip I know of that advertised to be used without a belt, and that is called an Ulticlip. Which won't help since the clip on the pro carry cannot be removed.
