Hello all,

I have been looking for a CCW for a while now and have been narrowing it down slowly. There is only one gun shop here in Juneau so its hard to feel a lot of guns and see how they fit me.

I tried a Sig p290 and it felt pretty good in my hands. I also tried a p229 but that looked a bit bulky to carry.

I used to carry a Glock 27 but felt like that was too chunky to carry. I prefer to carry appendix style.

What im wanting to ask you all, is is there a better deal out there than the Sig p290 in terms of a light, reliable, CCW pistol? They are a bit pricy up here, but if they are worth it I will get one. They are asking 800 for the one with a laser on it which is completely over the top and i really wish we had somewhere else to shop here. They have Mosin Nagants priced at 250$ and they are nothing special.

Just looking for a reliable, easily concealable, easy to handle, and hopefully wont break the bank....is that too much to ask? :p

You'll get plenty of opinions for CCW here. Here's mine. I know you said your options are limited but try out as many as you can, maybe from fellow CCWers. I also carry a G27 every now and then but as far as slim profile and weight, the S&W Shield is better in those aspects, also a bit cheaper at less than $400. Nothing against the SIG. I'm sure it's as good as other SIGs and will do the job.

The sig P938 is a great little carry gun along with the XDS's in 9mm or .45 there are a ton of great CCW's these days just go to a gun show and fell them all up.

I do NOT understand pricing on the Sig 290s. I've seen them all over the place. Around here (Midwest) i have seen 290rs models without the laser for less than or a little over $500. I've heard people quote prices like you found. I believe even Sig dropped pricing on them since first introduced. It's a bit of a mystery to me. I would not pay $800 for one, laser or no. Just MO. They seem to get pretty good reviews but seem to have trouble gaining traction in the market.

The P290 is pretty close to the Sig P250 subcompact, which is less expensive and which offers the advantages of modularity. I have a P250 and like it, I have not handled a P290.

I picked up a 290 last spring and I'm very happy with it. Not a huge fan of DAO but my wife will carry it at times so it made sense. I think we have around 600 rounds through it and it's been 100% reliable so far. The accuracy is pretty good for a pistol this size as well. I think it's my seventh Sig and all have been great pistols.

I have shot the new SIG P290 recently that belongs to a friend. It is well made but a bit too heavy for its size. I would much prefer the Kahr CM 9, which is lighter and cheaper in price. That said, I like SIG pistols and have the P230 in 380ACP, P225, and P228 in 9mm.

Just bought the same package from buds 407.00 shipped if price is your objection that's hard to beat

Bought the P290RS last July...mine s 100% reliable, feels good n the yand...has a fair payload and full szed night sights...mine is VERY accurate...the trigger was a bit stiff at first but in short order(dry firing) mine has ligtened up significantly...my choice over the Shield or XDS in 9mm...
