My P99 AS is the best semi-auto I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot.

The AS trigger is very safe for daily carry. If you can't make the transition from double to single action, get the QA trigger.

Dealers tell me P99s don't sell well. Probably because Walther doesn't advertise like S&W or Springfield.

Whatever. :p

I was almost sold on a M&P, until I seen a used SW99 LE trade, with an asking price of $500, thought it was a little high considering it was the same price as new M&P. After looking around I found one NIB for $425, can't wait to shoot it.

P99

I have one of the early P99 models in .40. Traded my Glock .40 (Model 22 I think) for it and love it. Shot 300 rounds through it yesterday, no problem with ftf or fte. Great pistol. Also have a M&P 9mm can't hit crap with it as I shot them both yesterday. And then there is my beloved PPK, what can I say.
(Owned for 28 years.) got rid of my HK .40 and sig 226 and I am very happy with the walther. At the range people always compliment the P99.

What's after the P99? Anyone know what is in the works ?

I own a P99 and a P99C, both with AS triggers in 9mm, and am happy to have them. They are frequent companions on my trips to the range. I dare say that I wouldn't trade either Walther for much of anything else on the market, regardless of brand name or price. They fit my hand and eye near perfectly and are exceptionally well-made and accurate handguns. I've put hundreds of rounds through each and have never experienced a single hiccup. If you've never fired one, you should give it a try.

I had one of the early ones, but it was stolen. It was the most reliable gun I've owned with about 6500 rounds and no malfunctions after the first 500 rounds.

I own a P99 A/S in .40 S&W. Based on my experience and research the P99 really shines in 9mm, but I'll admit that in .40 S&W, I find it a bit snappy.

If you own and carry different handguns, there is a bit of a muscle memory difference between the P99 and others. Something you need to train on and remember when you carry.

All that said, I do love the P99. It feels great in my hand and is very reliable. Shoots straight. Can't complain about that.
