I have been invited to go on a hunt in PA. The location is Tioga Game Preserve.

Does anyone have experience with this outfit?

I have a 308 is this a good caliber?

Been there a long time ago. Stayed overnight and got fed buffalo steaks. Tasted really great.

Got a hog with my .357 cal Colt Python revolver.

That said, its like hunting in a zoo. Not too challenging.

The caliber you choose depends on what you want to hunt. People use anything from bowie knives to Zouave muskets.

In my mind, hog hunting (I've only done it in TN) is best done with a gun/caliber you'd use in close woods deer hunting. Big bare handgun, 30-30, lever 45-70 all seem just...well, right. Nothing wrong with a 308...just unlikely you'll need it's "legs".

Wolfy let us know how the hunt turned out. I emailed that outfit many months ago and never got a response. That concerned me, so I never tried again.

The only person I know that hunts boar, does so with a knife. He's not entirely crazy as he carries and .357 just in case.

I would imagine that .308 would be overkill.
