We're talking about Garands here. Hot ammo is a no-no unless you have an adjustable gas plug.Greek surplus ammo may be accurate but it is watered down. PPU 150gr 7.62x54 soft point has a velocity of 2,880 fps. PPU 150gr SP 30/06 ammo has a velocity of right at 2,960 fps. Sellier and Bellot 180gr ammo is very accurate and it has a velocity of over 2,800 fps. S&B slams deer and I am sure it would be just as effective on elk and moose at ranges up to 300 yards.
Add some ouzo (cup of ouzo to a jigger of water) and it's fine. Can you drink the water in Greece? I'd still buy their ammo.
It's meant for Garands - that means it's loaded with a faster burning powder that will produce appropriate port pressure to function the M1 without overstressing the op rod. The consequence is slightly less velocity.Greek surplus ammo may be accurate but it is watered down.
