CTD is now showing the HXP for 0.61/rd including shipping for a case of 320. I'm either gonna order a case from there or 200 from the CMP today. CMP is a little more expensive but any profits go to support their activities which I like. Thanks for all of the input gentlemen.

Pakistan used the 30-06 Browning machine gun along with water cooled .303 Vickers, after seperating from India, untill they settled on the G-3 and MG-3.

Greek surplus ammo may be accurate but it is watered down. PPU 150gr 7.62x54 soft point has a velocity of 2,880 fps. PPU 150gr SP 30/06 ammo has a velocity of right at 2,960 fps. Sellier and Bellot 180gr ammo is very accurate and it has a velocity of over 2,800 fps. S&B slams deer and I am sure it would be just as effective on elk and moose at ranges up to 300 yards.
We're talking about Garands here. Hot ammo is a no-no unless you have an adjustable gas plug.

It is military surplus that was loaded to M2 Ball spec. People at CMP claim it was stored properly and hasn't lost any punch over the years.

The stuff that I've shot seemed pretty robust to me.

Can you drink the water in Greece? I'd still buy their ammo.
Add some ouzo (cup of ouzo to a jigger of water) and it's fine. ;)

Seriously, outside of rural areas, Western Europe is generally considered to be pretty safe as far as drinking water is concerned, unlike large parts of Asia and Africa, and of course Central and South America.

It's meant for Garands - that means it's loaded with a faster burning powder that will produce appropriate port pressure to function the M1 without overstressing the op rod. The consequence is slightly less velocity.

I've shot Greek .30/06 in my M1s with no problems whatsoever - though I note a magnet WILL stick to the bullet. On the other hand, I recently got some of CTD's .303 milsurp - very nice looking ammo, and surprisingly a magnet does NOT stick to the .303 bullet.

From what I've found on the Internet (take THAT for what it's worth!!) most or all of the Greek HXP milsurp ammo was made with Winchester's technology and powder.

Pakistan's ammo - ?????

I'm Greek, have relatives there and my son just got back from visiting. Yes, you can drink the water, but that's the only good thing right now.

Fortunately, the ammo was made years ago. I wouldn't trust it if it was made within the last ten years or so. But, I digress.
