went to pick up pizza for dinner and noticed a huge 30.07 sign on the front door... told the manager I won't do business with them as a direct result of that sign... I'd rather support businesses that won't discriminate against my Glock. :cuss:

I'll avoid.

Thanks for the heads up!

Did it have a matching 30.06 sign?

If not, maybe you should read that as "Carry as you wish, just don't upset our other customers by having it visible."

I walked in a John Deere tractor dealership a few weeks ago that had a sign on the door. I asked and they said it was a corporate sign. A tractor store in Georgia that doesn't allow guns? I wonder how many of their customers give a darn?

No gun sign at a tractor store in Georgia? Did hell free over in Dixie?

Over a 30.07 sign?

I bet the manager gave a big <deleted>.

I'm throwing the BS flag on that one - the dealer's copping out and pretending it's someone else's choice.

I use two JD dealers in New Mexico - neither of them have a "corporate sign" banning guns in the dealership.

The dealerships are independently owned franchises - corporate JD doesn't tell them how to run their dealerships on issues like that.

Papa Johns is a take out place mostly. I suspect they get robbed from time to time. We know about the effectiveness of gun free zones.

I say remain respectful, but vote with your wallet. Tell them you and your friends will order extra pizza if they play ball, maybe.

He didn't say corporate JD, just corporate.

Corporations are not proscribed from owning 2 or more JD franchises, are they?

Could be BS but there is no way to tell with the available info.

In my area of GA GreenSouth and AgPro are two John Deere franchises/distributors/whatever and have different sets of rules. For example AgPro doesn't allow their people to use subcontractors while GreenSouth does. I haven't noticed any gun signs.

I did an Internet search, found an example of the Texas 30.07 sign, looked it over and read it several times. I don't see any reference to Glock. The pictogram is a revolver. Can you clarify why you think they are discriminating against your Glock?

Putting irrelevant brand favoritism aside, the obvious issue here is the OP taking offense to a business not wanting to participate in the open carry movement. That doesn't automatically make a business or a person anti-gun or anti-2A. Some folks, even otherwise adamant pro-gun types aren't enthused over open carry. But you are certainly within your rights to not spend money there.

Well Mr Buck you can call BS all you want. Is there some reason you think I would fabricate a story about my JD dealership being anti-gun? If I wanted to smear a business I would paste their name all over the forum.

www.sunsouth.com I had not been there in several years and it was formerly Columbus Tractor. Columbus Georgia.

I said discriminate against my Glock because that is what I carry... if my Glock which I use to protect my family isn't good enough for them... neither is my hard earned $$$...
I mean Starbucks as liberal as they are... they allow Open Carry...

Remember that franchise owners get bombarded with lots of people with causes who tell them "just do X and it will help your business and help the public".

Our opportunity is to tell them that it actually will hurt their business because discriminating against us, gun owners (not a gun), they'll lose not only our business, but everyone you can get to drop them and give the money to their competition (doubly hurting their bottom line). Explain that their sign is prejudicial and assumes that law abiding citizens can't be trusted and that real criminals won't pay any attention to it anyway.

Do you realize that those are two oppositional statements ?

You mean “We don’t care if we upset you, We just don’t want to upset someone else.”

Do they sell guns and/or ammo? Most of the true farm supply and hardware stores (i.e. not the ones that sell to urban yuppies that want a backyard hobby) sell ammunition and some also sell guns.

We have a Atwoods Farm Supply chain that sells handguns, rifles and shotguns.

I have absolutely no problem with Papa Johns posting a 30.07 sign. If I had the business, I would feel much the same way. Keep it concealed.

Their business, their rules. If you choose to buy your pizza elsewhere because of the sign, that's your business.

What are the chances that the manager told the corporate office about one person?

None.
