Ive been trying to decide wether i want a Charles Daly M-5 Ultra-X or a Para warthog. There both in my price range but im not up to date on my 1911 info. This would be my first 1911 and i like the 3inch carry models. I just ran across a page about the Rock island 1911 and am impressed by what everyone is saying. Any info you guys can give would be a great help.

I would go with the Para but, you may have an issue with trying to get a Para with a once fired case.

I was going to get an LDA and I could not get a dealer to locate me one with a once fired case.

Para says they have to be notified so they can ship one to the dealer.
Good luck.

dd4329, The small 1911s are not as reliable as the full size, but they are cute little things. Look at the thread "1911 Full size vs Minime 1911". orchidhunter

yeah i have heard about the reliabilty issue but im planning on just using this as a range gun. we are not allowed to carry in maryland so no worries about that. basically im just looking for details on wether the polymer frame Charles Daly has had anything go wrong with them or how long they will hold up. Ive also been looking at the Kimber ultra carrys but my wallet is saying no and so is my wife. Does anyone know if Rock island island or any one else make a 3inch carry model that will not break my piggy bank. thanks guys.

Buy the Charles Daly. You'll give up some cosmetics, but the gun will run. Buy a Para, it will look fantastic but gag when it gets near ammunition. Oh, and Para will refuse to fix it.
