1) Americans have for the most part because a society of couch potatoes. We do anything if it's inconvenient? Hell, I don't want to be bothered, Hey I worked a long day, Hey, so and so is on TV or I got a DVD or Video or whatever... Now some of you actually work out, etc.. but most Americans are NOT motivated at all. You've been programmed to watch TV and done very little once you're home (Please forgive this those ladies with families). Yes, you might even log onto the Internet and post in those incredibly typical "reactions".. but have you really done much? (rhetorical question folks)

2) Per the above: The turn out at Elections has been at all times lows for many years now. How many of you are really getting out and voting to support the pro gun candidates? This was a trick question, because behind the scenes, many conservative and even republican candidates will flat out tell you: 1) The pro-2nd community does NOT get out and vote as much as it should and because of that, many of these people are no longer actively supporting the 2nd. Because they know if they did, they'd get killed at the polls. So, fewer people voting to save our rights, fewer candidates actually willing to support the 2nd.... add it up!! Folks, studies have been done on this and it’s not fantasy. The only party actively supporting the 2nd is the Libertarians and you can’t fractionalize the vote!

3) Not one of you people has stopped to think about the fact that every damn time you turn on that boob tube, you're being programmed / conditioned. Yes you are! IT is a fact! Those wonderful folks that bring you TV, News Films, etc have all done studies on these things (when they weren't bright enough to figure it out)... Throw the damn things OUT! Or lock them out and allow their use only on a very limited basis! READ BOOKS! READ THE PAPER! ANYTHING, but get rid of the normal "TV" watching. Why?? Because TV has been run by liberals for well over the past 30 years. Much of the conditioning has been consistent: "Guns are BAD!". And this is indeed having an effect on the American public. Kids think Guns are bad, Palestinians are good, etc etc etc, everything contrary to simple reality! AMERICA was founded on Freedom, personal and otherwise. But kids don't realize it. More over this is the trend in the large population centers... LA, NYC, etc etc.

4) READ THE POSTS HERE!!! RARELY IF EVER is there one original thought. These conversations are damn near the exact conversations I had being posted in Fidonet in the 80's and 80's... The conversations are ineffectual and even worse... it's shows have fractionalized the shooting community really is!!

5) Hasn't any of you realized that what happens in California will happen in the rest of the country? It's only a matter of time. Even in the 70's smart news commentators were stating that fact and it's true.

6) Will shooters ever get off their rear ends and do anymore then simple posting on the internet? Rarely if ever... because a LOT of you aren't even voting!

7) Even without the conditioning that's been going on for years, the liberals in Hollywood generate a tremendous amount of money, and a LOT of that money goes to liberal candidates. We're screwed either way, because not only will the liberals have a LARGE war chest to use to get elected; most conservative candidates are no longer actively supporting the 2nd, at least not in the large population centers where they have more politicians and power!

7) The saddest fact of all: Most of the shooting community wants only what it wants: "I want squirt guns", "I want silencers", I want this I want that... blah blah blah... You Bloody morons need to stop and think: WE NEED TO SAVE THE 2nd.. ABOVE ALL ELSE! Stop all the BS, start learning to WORK WITHONE ANOTHER!! AND GET OFF YOUR REAR ENDS!! DO SOMETHING!

8) The NRA as an entity is next to useless, it's gotten so bad, most politicians don't take it seriously anymore, except to bad mouth it. The NRA is a Bureaucratic entity at it’s worst, that's so in love with it's job(s) and is damn near acting like an inbred family that won't change to save it's life! If it doesn't, the NRA will not last more then another 30 or so years, not much beyond the life span of what's left of the shooting community. MOST OF ALL THE NRA HAS YET TO SEE MOST OF THE REAL ISSUES!!

Want me to go on?? I can.. but it's time you people stopped and started thinking about ALL OF THIS!! Because if you don't.. and if you don't start doing something (Other then posting on the internet), we're done for and I thank God I won't be around to see the 2nd lost.. because when that happens, America as we've known her, is also lost.

Want something to think about: Watch the last 20 minutes of "Shrek".. yes the cartoon, I put it on for some of the family kids that were over the other day and at the end, where the wedding is about to take place, you'll see the citizens of DuLac being told what to do with instructions dictated by card... THAT'S WHAT AMERICA HAS IN STORE IF THE LIBERALS GET THEIR WAY!!!

If you people do NOT change, we're lost... period and not just for the sake of keeping your firearms..

rojoko, I'm not going to argue with what you've posted (because frankly I agree with much of it...my only criticism of the content is that I think you're selling the RKBA movement short and the NRA in particular ... we are making advances. More CCW, end of AWB, more castle doctrine, etc. Also the reason you see many of the same conversations here as back in the Fidonet days is that many people are just awakening to the RKBA cause ... as such there's going to be a lot of repetition of argument as these newbies open their eyes).

But PLEASE, proof read and spell check your posts (in the first sentence it looks like "because" should be "become" ... and you have two point #7s)

rojoko:

Take a deep breath, dude.

Stop all the BS, start learning to WORK WITHONE ANOTHER!! AND GET OFF YOUR REAR ENDS!! DO SOMETHING!
Many of us are. We have many members who are:

- Pro-gun activists (e.g. Jim March).
- Militia members (me, for example).
- Active in educating people on issues related to guns, freedom, and liberty.

I think part of the problem is most law-abiding gun owning folks are just too good natured to get riled up about anything that doesn't seem to immediately bother them. Most folks I meet at the range are quiet, polite, and very helpful. Though a bit reserved. Maybe it is just the region I live in. That is just the way they are.
The people that get the press are the ultra right wing whackos and the criminals.
It's weird. Everytime I see some senseless accident involving motor vehicles on the news, there is no public outcry over more stringent motor vehicle laws. Everyone with a lick of sense recognizes it for what it is. A terrible unfortunate accident.
If someone gets in a firearms accident or incident. The outcry is almost like the sky is falling.
And motor vehicle incidents far far outstrip firearms incidents.
It is conditioning to a degree. I agree with you there.

Being into the shooting sports has been relegated to the slackjawed, hill-womping, ignorant yokel pursuit. We have to work hard to change that image. That means showing off our best and brightest.

I think the political diversity of those who support the RKBA, or as I call it, the right to shoot back, may indeed surprise you.

Rojoko...

Personally, I think ya oughta put a good splash of Bailey's in that coffee.;)

Biker:)

On the Brady Bunch's website I saw where show biz folk are going to start doing anti-gun public dis-service messages again. Some hottie from Grey's Anatomy, another 1 hour weekly chick flick.

How about if the NRA, or GOA, or SOMEBODY did public service announcements encouraging 2A supporters to get out and vote, on a major network, not the Outdoor Channel, Vs. Aren't you tired of Oprah and Paul Neuman getting all the attention? Wouldn't it be nice to see Tom Selleck out there for a change?

Or do you think the major networks would refuse to run it? Can they legally refuse, or could the NRA sue their brains out?

So tell me, Bob, what is all this work you have done in the last 30 years? So you started a gun discussion group in the 80s? Hooray for you. You shot in a lot of competitions. Again, hooray for you.

You claim to have been fighting this fight for 30 years, yet all you do here is show up and start spewing vague statements about how we are all doomed.

You complain that nothing posted is original, but your post is nothing more than regurgitated comments.

Let's look at the main points your insightful post.
1. Turn off your TV and internet.
2. Vote.
3. Turn off your TV.
4. No original ideas.
5. California domino effect.
6. Turn off your internet and vote.

You have two number 7s and neither of seem to have much of a point.

8. The NRA is worthless.

None of these ideas are particularly original either.

I daresay that if this is as effective as you have been for the last 30 years, you can certainly take credit for where we are today.

How about given us some insight in to what can actually be done, oh great and wise one? After 30 years, one would think you'd come up with something more original than "Turn off your TV and vote." Perhaps the solution is that simple, but after so much time, it would seem that simply saying that is not enough to get people moving. So how do you get people involved? Surely, there is more to it than just posting barely coherent rants.

That's right. I'm saying put up or shut up. Coming to the board and telling us how we are all getting what we deserve is just plain childish. If you know the solution, it's time to sit down and post a coherent battle plan. With so much experience, I would expect some sort of leadership. Instead, all I see is derisive doomsday postings of a bitter man ranting about the shortcomings of the very people he claims to be trying to save.

Let's see some of this experience and insight in action. Are you up for the challenge? Or are you going to sit there and write up another post telling us how there is no hope and you're glad you'll be dead soon?

I'm tired of the constant TV bashing from the Left and Right.

Shows like "Mythbusters", "American Chopper" and "Lost" are an American Thing of Beauty!

Viva La TV!

Ho hum . . . the repetitive berating is unimaginative, abusive, and not welcome. This is the third of these type of posts of yours I've closed now, rojoko.
