Pawn Stars Rips Off America got a S&W Old Model Russian, engraved, nickel and remnants of gold wash on cylinder. Unlike most items, they were not fed background and did not kno what they were looking at.
Their Gun Guy mansplained it.
Of course they just had to shoot it.
It fired, even set off the Tannerite.
Appraised $8000 retail, PS paid $5500.

Oh, I know, that is par for stores buying for resale.
What surprised me was that usually Rick et al obviously have cheat sheets as they spout off learnedly about stuff that comes in. Not this time. "A Russian gun" "An odd foreign caliber."
The consultant was pretty up on the basics but the plating and engraving seemed tough for him.
If something like that shows up on a gunboard there would be an immediate cry "Get a letter!"

95% of the pawn shop stuff is staged, completely similar to the Storage Wars junk, with the "experts" called in to verify the item are often the actual owner of the item. It's all bogus, just entertainment, like the one where the gun shop bought a deactivated machine gun, then reactivated it, with NO ATFE involvement.
